A little goodbye to Office Dog Milo ❤️
If you've followed Toodlepip for a while, you'll probably have seen this face pop up from time to time.

Sadly, we had to say goodbye to Office Dog Milo very suddenly this week.

He was my little workmate, occasional social media star and a very loved part of Toodlepip Towers. The office won't be quite the same without him. ❤️

Things have understandably been a little slower than usual here this week, but I'm back at my desk today and working my way through emails. Thank you for bearing with me.

Are you taking some time off this summer?
More importantly...
Have you got your marketing covered while you're away?

✔ Facebook ads running in the background

✔ Newsletters scheduled and ready to go

✔ Website up to date

✔ Social media planned

✔ Someone keeping an eye on things while you're enjoying a well-earned break

If the answer is "sort of..." or "I really should get round to that", now is probably the time.

One of the things we help clients with is getting all their marketing ducks in a row before they head off on holiday, so they can properly switch off knowing everything is ticking along behind the scenes.

Between me, Dave and Rachael, we can help with Facebook ads, email marketing, websites and general marketing support, taking some of the pressure off your shoulders.

Because let's be honest...

The whole point of taking time off is actually taking time off.

If you'd like a hand getting organised before the summer holidays, drop me a message.

After taking a couple of days off last week to enjoy Royal Ascot with my two boys, I'm back at my desk this morning, slightly tired but very much back in work mode!

I've spent the morning catching up on emails, checking in with clients and getting organised for the week ahead.

I also have a few spaces available this week and next if you've been thinking about Facebook ads, marketing strategy, or just want a second opinion on what you're currently doing.

Whether you're looking for more enquiries, more sales, or simply want to understand whether ads could work for your business, I'm always happy to have a proper conversation and see if I can help.

I've also finally joined the modern world and set up a booking link, so if you'd like to grab a time for a chat, you can do that here:

No hard sell. Just a friendly conversation, a few ideas, and a chance to see whether we're a good fit.

A little Facebook Ads fact for you...
When Meta looks at an ad, it doesn't just care about whether people click on it.
It also scores it on things like:

• Quality
• Engagement
• Conversion rate

And if you get all three right, Meta tends to reward you with better performance and lower costs.

I was looking at a campaign this week and spotted something that made me smile.

Above Average.
Above Average.
Above Average.

Across all three rankings.

Now, that doesn't happen because of luck.

It comes from understanding the audience, getting the messaging right, and making sure what happens after someone clicks actually makes sense.

It's a good reminder that successful ads aren't usually about clever tricks or huge budgets.

They're about showing the right message to the right people at the right time.

Simple really.
Well... sort of 😄

Something interesting has been happening recently...

Over the last few weeks, I've had several conversations that started out being about Facebook and Instagram ads and ended up somewhere completely different.

Instead of asking, "Can you run our ads?"

People have been asking:

"How should we market this?"

"What's the best way to attract more customers?"

"What would you do if this was your business?"

It's made me realise that whilst Facebook ads are still very much my bread and butter, what many businesses are actually looking for is someone to help them see the bigger picture.

The truth is, ads work best when they're part of a wider plan.

Sometimes the answer is Facebook ads.

Sometimes it's improving a website.

Sometimes it's email marketing.

Sometimes it's partnerships, PR, networking or simply getting clearer on who you're trying to reach.

I've always found myself naturally looking at the whole marketing puzzle rather than just one piece of it.

So whilst you'll still find me happily buried in Meta Ads Manager most days, you may hear me talking a little more about marketing strategy, business growth and helping businesses connect the dots.

After all, great marketing isn't about doing more marketing.

It's about doing the right marketing.

Well, I genuinely thought my days of being involved in town projects were behind me.

After my time as Chair of the Chamber of Commerce, helping raise thousands for the Gromit Unleashed appeal and various other community adventures over the years, I thought I'd done my bit and quietly retired from town life.

Then Bob Bannister appeared.

And somehow managed to drag me back out of retirement. 🤣

Last week I found myself on ITV News talking about the fundraising campaign to help save Chipping Sodbury's historic Clock Tower.

It's one of those landmarks that has always been there. Part of the backdrop to our town. The sort of thing you don't always notice until it's at risk of disappearing.

It was brilliant to help support the team and raise awareness of the campaign, although I have to say I wasn't quite prepared for the gale force winds that seemed determined to join us for the interview.

I'm not entirely sure what my hair was doing, but hopefully the message got through. 😂

All joking aside, it's been fantastic to see so many people getting behind the campaign and supporting a piece of local history that means so much to so many people.

Thank you to everyone who has donated, shared posts and helped spread the word so far.

I've been reflecting on Tuesday's VIP Business Day with AndreaCallanan at Harvey Nichols Bristol.

The food was lovely, the setting was lovely, but honestly, the best bit was having the space to properly think.

As business owners, we're often so busy doing the work that we rarely stop to think about where we're actually heading.

We spent the day talking about Toodlepip Media, what's working, where I want the business to go over the next six months and some exciting opportunities that I probably wouldn't have spotted if I'd stayed buried in my inbox.

I've worked with mentors and coaches before, but what I love about Andrea is her ability to cut through all the noise and get to the heart of what's really going on. Sometimes the answer isn't another marketing tactic or shiny new idea. Sometimes it's simply getting clear on what you actually want.

We're often happy to invest in software, advertising, equipment and training.

But sometimes the best investment is giving yourself the time and space to step away from the day-to-day and think.

Really think.

I came away with pages of notes, plenty of food for thought and a few exciting ideas that I'm looking forward to exploring over the coming months.

A huge thank you to Andrea for a brilliant day.

Now if someone could tell my inbox that I've had a strategy day and therefore shouldn't have to answer emails for at least a week, that would be great. 🤣

“I don’t run ads for everyone.”
I know that might sound like a strange thing to say when that’s literally what I do…

But the truth is, the best results never come from just “running ads”.

They come from:
understanding the business
knowing what you actually want more of
and having proper conversations along the way

I’m not here to just press buttons and hope for the best.

I’m here to work with you, figure things out, and actually make it work properly.

And yes… that does usually involve a few voice notes and a bit of “have you thought about doing it like this?” along the way 😄

If that sounds like your kind of working relationship, we’ll get on just fine.
