I absolutely love this group. They offer a safe friendly space for the community to meet friends, new friends whilst enjoying a homemade meal and a cuppa. They are so friendly and there is always a bargain to be had from the bric a brac table and chance to buy a raffle ticket to win a prize. All money they raise goes to MIND or to raise money for local people who need special wheelchairs to give them mobility.

2 August 2022

On this date Mary was presented with her and Emma and Chris from Taylor Made Wheelchairs came to visit our cafe.

Taylor Made are the company that made Mary’s chair and will also do Luca’s. Their company take pride in providing wheelchairs and seating solutions that enhance comfort and independence. They are a family business and ensure every aspect of their wheelchairs are tailored to users specific needs. They are based in the West Midlands. The volunteers also presented them with the payment cheque for Luca’s chair.

It was lovely to meet Chris and Emma in person and they very generously brought lots of goodies with them for our cafe - things for our bargain tables, tea, coffee, sweets to name a few.

It is a pleasure working with them. x

FIND OUT WHATS GOING ON IN HANHAM & LONGWELL GREEN.

Do you know anything about Community Engagement Forums??

There is one for Hanham and Longwell Green and they hold 4 meetings per year - please see below details that I have copied from their website.
Community Engagement Forums (CEF) in South Gloucestershire are about listening and responding to local people’s real issues. People in their communities know best what works for them and what their real needs are.
The CEF aims are:
to promote pride in the local area as a safe, thriving and pleasant place to live, work and play to reduce crime, disorder and drug and alcohol misuse in the area to empower local people to have a greater voice and influence over local decision making and service delivery by increasing the strength, capacity and engagement of the local community to improve the quality of life of people in the local area by identifying community aspirations, needs and local priorities.
CEFs have been developed through working with various partner agencies including the Avon & Somerset Police, Avon Fire & Rescue, Public Health, town and parish councils and local organisations. CEFs are also about working in partnership with elected members. We aim to provide a platform for building strong and cohesive communities in which everyone, regardless of background, has a real sense of community involvement.
Within CEFs we also support groups who wish to make a positive difference and improve their own communities. We do this by supporting community engagement initiatives.
The next meeting is online on
Tuesday 20 September 2022 - 7.00pm

This weekend is going to be extremely hot 🔥🥵☀ so we want to offer you a place of cool sanctuary 😱🙌🥳, Hanham...

The plus of being a very old stone building ⛪with a very high ceiling is when its very hot outside, its a lot cooler in the Church.😱🙌🥳

From 9am to 9pm, Sat & Sun, Christ Church will be open for you to come and sit in the cool. There'll be a cold drinks🧊🥤 station for you to help yourself with donations.

There'll be some tables and chairs out, you can bring a book📚, chat with a friend🫂, children you can bring your games or gadgets.

We just want to offer sanctuary to those whose homes or flats just turn into ovens and those who just need to escape the heat.

Obviously if you come at 10.30 on a Sunday you'll get a Service too!🥤

Only down side is we sadly wont be able to leave the toilet facilities open and unsupervised.
