I hear some version of that sentence at least once every six months. It’s usually the moment before a client’s second, more expensive project.

Design is a translator. It makes a clear idea visible - it can’t invent the idea for you.

From a slightly chaotic working file on my screen… to a box full of finished postcards ready to be delivered.

And yes, opening a box of freshly printed work still gives me a ridiculous amount of satisfaction.

These were designed for .Devon to capture the character of the shop, make the location easy to find and give people a small piece of the brand they could physically pick up and take with them.

Because even in a digital world, print still has a job to do.

It puts a brand into someone’s hands. It creates another opportunity to be noticed. And, when it feels unmistakably like the business it belongs to, it helps the whole brand become more memorable.

Designing it is one thing. Seeing the finished piece is always the bit that makes it real.

Now to get them out into the wild. ✌🏼

There’s something lovely about seeing something you created living in someone else’s home 🧡

Last year, I designed this one-off skateboard for to launch their single, U.A.P. It became the prize in a competition built around the release - and now it’s hanging proudly in the winner’s home, looking like it was always meant to be there.

This is the kind of project I love.

Not just something that looks good on a shelf. Something you’d actually enter a competition to win.

Admittedly, my answer to “How should we promote the new single?” being “Let’s make a custom skateboard” probably tells you quite a lot about me as a designer.

But ordinary ideas rarely make memorable stories. 🔥
