THE PERFECT SALES DEAL

Oh, how we all wish for the perfect deal - when we don't have to try to make a meeting, we don't have to push to overcome objections, the client accepts the first price and we all jump around and celebrate when the client pays on time.

But what if every deal went like that?

What would be the point of a sales person?

Who would care?

Don't wish away the experience of rejection - it hardens you.
Don't wish away the struggles - it allows you to learn.

The experience of putting yourself through the sales call is one that you HAVE to do in order to get better - yes, of course - on some occasions, we all wish we could skip a few stages and get things done quicker but come on! You want to SELL don't you?

If everything went to plan, you'd just be taking orders and a machine could do that (and my 5 year old son).

Stick with the journey and learn from it.

NEVER LOWER YOUR PRICE - ADD MORE VALUE.

Your price is your value, once you have it set - don't negotiate.

When your clients ask "What can we do about the price?" - negotiate a different path - look at additional services you can offer, don't jump into a discount war and don't just lower your price for the business.

It will always come back to haunt you. Always.

You will be asked time and time again to offer the same price, you will have to discount further works and then, you'll lose ground. It will already be over before its begun.

IF YOU WANT SALES - SHOW PEOPLE.

Stop hiding behind the excuse that you don't want to give anything away - you need to get over yourself.

People want to know that you know what you are talking about, they want to see what you can do and they want to be entertained, taught and delighted - all at the same time.

If you are good - you will succeed.

If you are a fraud, you will be found out.

Stop listening to the voice in your head that tells you that you can't do it - thats doubt.

If you havent got a clear, defined understanding of what you want to do - how can you possibly push to get there?

Where are you heading? Only by understanding where we are heading and what your goals are, can you decide whether you have been successful.

We all want success but that metric is a personal one - no-one else can decide your success because no-one else knows your purpose.

GIVE YOURSELF THE PERMISSION

So many of you, so many skills - so little being shown off.

How many of you are experts at doing something, creating something, performing something and could teach others BUT you’re too afraid of being seen?

I used to worry about what others thought about my page.. especially from people I know.

“Who does he think he is?”
“I could do it better than that!”

But... I’m doing it.

Don’t care about others opinions (especially those people who actually know you) because I guarantee for every one person who has a critical view - there are 100 others who want to learn and want to hear what you have to say.

Do it for them.

Give yourself the permission to showcase your work, your knowledge and what you can offer.

Break free from your limiting beliefs.

Break free from societal constraints.

Break free from your underpaid job.

Break free from your mindset.

The only freedom you have is your freedom to decide and to control your own environment - it’s your choice whether you remained constrained and conform to norms or whether you release the shackles, be you and show the world that breaking free can be a release.

From a design perspective - I’ve changed. I can see the beauty in new and original things. I’ve freshened up the look and I’m experimenting (hence this post - show it some love).

From a sales perspective, you can overcome your fears and pick up that phone - have belief and succeed.

Be yourself in a world which wants to put you behind a fence and create segregation.

Be different.

The problem with some salespeople today is that they put themselves in the customers shoes and feel that the value that they are offering isn't enough. That the client shouldn't pay that because they can't see the value they are offering.

Your JOB as a salesperson is to identify the pain point, identify the problem and then solve it for them.

Stop trying to work too much with your ego, stop trying to pretend to know all the answers and stop working hard on being someone else.

You'll make some sales, you'll lose some but the ones you do make will stick.

TATTOOS - GOOD FOR BUSINESS?

I have two sleeve tattoos, I have an ankle tattoo and I want more but even just 5 years ago, I was worried it would impact my employment opportunities because I had never seen a boardroom filled with tattoos.

I have had looks, I have had comments - some positive and some negative.

THE ONE WAY TO GET MORE SALES.

Less of the bu****it - less of the checklists and all the fancy ways to open conversations.

Lets get real together - the one way I have got way more sales than others during my career is that I ask. Even when I was afraid to ask for the sale, even when the client has already said no, even when the deal was dead. I asked.

Thats the single easiest piece of advice you will recieve today.

Don't worry about how to say it, the cadence, the tone, the speed, the words or the timing - just ask. Strip away all the fluffy nonsense, stop trying to use psychological tricks and methods to push you closer to the sale - the quickest route is to ask.
