Falls are a significant health concern, especially for individuals aged 50 and above. They can lead to serious injuries, loss of independence, and increased healthcare costs.

During Falls Prevention Awareness Week, which runs from September 23rd to September 27th, Bury will host various events and activities designed to inform and engage the public. These include:

✅ Drop-in Sessions: Residents can access free advice and support on falls prevention, including assessments and rehabilitation services tailored to individual needs.

✅ Exercise Programs: Services across Bury will offer online and in-person exercise sessions aimed at improving strength and balance, which are vital for falls prevention.

✅ Educational Workshops: Bury will provide learning opportunities that focus on practical strategies to reduce fall risks at home and in the community.

Are you over State Pension age, or know someone who is?
If you are over State Pension age, you may be eligible to claim Pension Credit, even if you own your home or have savings.
People who claim Pension Credit may also be able to get:

👉 Winter Fuel Payment & other help with heating
👉 Help with rent & Council Tax
👉 free TV Licence if 75 or over
👉 Help with cost of NHS services, such as dental treatment, glasses & travel for hospital appointments

You could be eligible for Pension Credit if your weekly income is below £218.15 or, if you have a partner who lives with you, £332.95
