A proud moment for us at Shepherd PR this week as myself and Kim Peatfield headed to the National Arboretum to receive the silver accolade at the Armed Forces Covenant Employer Recognition Awards.

The award recognises the work we have been doing to build links and opportunities between the Armed Forces and our clients and other associate partners, particularly the trade associations we work with.

This includes highlighting the opportunities available to Service Leavers in the building materials sector, through the Builders Merchants Federation Ltd’s Building Materials Careers programme.

We are also working in the early stages with the Association of Noise Consultants (ANC) to look at how we can encourage Armed Forces personnel with a background in engineering, who are looking at resettlement options, to consider a career in the acoustics profession.

It was great to attend today’s event with Rachel Wood too, so she could see firsthand the work of the West Midland RFCA and look at collaborative opportunities with the extensive Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire Growth Hub business network

Congratulations to the other 35 companies receiving the silver award at the event, and thanks to Phil Sinclair and all at the West Midland RFCA for their support and hard work connecting the Armed Forces with our community.

For 15 years, Austria’s Green.Building.Solutions. Summer University has set the pace in delivering the latest best practice in sustainability within the built environment, using Vienna as a working case study.

It’s been a pleasure to come to the city to support the marketing of the programme with Barbara Mayr, Lara Marchhart and the OeAD-GmbH – Agentur für Bildung und Internationalisierung team and celebrate 10 years of partnership with Shepherd PR in Vienna.

This year, 60 students from 27 nations are taking part, studying sustainable architecture, energy efficiency, urban planning and environmental science.

It was great to film case studies of student experiences, and to catch up with Niall Whelan of Munster Technological University, who we met at Futurebuild in London on the ADVANTAGE AUSTRIA stand, where the G.B.S programme is promoted annually.

Looking forward to heading up to a heuriger in the stunning wine village of Grinzens this evening to meet students from OeAD’s Alternative Economic & Monetary Systems Summer University programme, which runs concurrently with G.B.S, for the traditional celebration to mark the end of their course.

It's been a busy week for our team on Austrian projects, including filming in Vienna for OeAD Housing, covering the Green.Building.Solutions and Alternative Economic & Monetary Systems Summer Universities, currently taking place in the city.

For over 10 years, we've been promoting Vienna as a leading destination for students from across the globe to understand more about sustainability in the built environment and in the field of economic study.

The city's expertise in sustainability, in areas including ecology, the built environment and energy, provides an immersive backdrop as a living case study for student participants.

This week, we've also put Innsbruck on the map as a foodie heaven in regional titles, with Innsbruck Tourismus, Innsbruck - Tyrol (Austria).

Our work in the Capital of the Alps focuses on promoting the region as a year-round destination, with its unique urban/alpine environment providing unlimited opportunities to experience the variety of the city and surrounding landscape.
