Happy Birthday Martyn! 🎉🍻

After 10 years at OMS, we couldn't let your birthday go by without giving you a shout-out!

A massive thank you for everything you've done over the years. Your knowledge, experience and expertise have played a big part in helping OMS and our clients grow and you've been there for plenty of the journey along the way.

Of course, working with Martyn also means hearing plenty of stories about festivals, theme parks and everything in between. 😂

And then there's the legendary Cajun squirrel story involving Gary Lineker and a few other familiar faces... 😉🐿️

We'll leave that one for Martyn to explain!

Have a brilliant birthday mate, and try not to celebrate too hard this weekend. 🍻🎉

If we're going to market a client's products, we want to understand what it's actually like to use them 🤝

Our client iStorage recently sent the OMS team a selection of their encrypted storage products to test and use ourselves.

For us, that's important. It's one thing to understand a product from a website, brochure or strategy meeting. It's another to actually get your hands on it, use it and understand where it fits into the real world.

And we're a pretty good use case ourselves.

Our team works between offices, from home, at client meetings and occasionally while travelling. That can mean carrying business files and sensitive information between locations.

Having encrypted storage gives us a secure way of taking that data with us, rather than relying on a standard USB drive.

By using the range ourselves, our marketing team can also better understand the differences between the products, the problems they solve and the situations where a business might actually need them.

Because if we're going to help market a product, we should understand it like a customer would.

Big thanks to the iStorage team for sending the range over, we're putting them through their paces! 🔐

Sceptical about WordPress? You might be sceptical about the wrong thing 🌐

A common misconception is that WordPress websites are just thrown together with templates, AI and dozens of plugins.

They can be. But that's not a WordPress problem. That's a how the website was built problem.

At OMS, we start by understanding the business, its customers and what the website actually needs to achieve.

From there, we create a bespoke design around the brand before turning it into optimised, handwritten code, keeping unnecessary plugins to a minimum and building technical SEO into the foundations.

The result?

A faster, more flexible website that's built to be found on Google and gives your business the right foundations for visibility in AI search too.

More importantly, it's built to turn the right visitors into enquiries and sales.

So don't write WordPress off because you've seen badly built WordPress websites.

The platform isn't the problem. How it's built matters.

Have your website enquiries suddenly fallen off a cliff?

Before deciding how to fix the problem, you need to understand what has actually changed.

A drop in enquiries doesn’t always mean fewer people are searching for your services. It could be caused by:

📉 A loss of search visibility

📅 Seasonal changes in demand

🔍 Changes in how your customers search

🖥️ Problems with your website or enquiry forms

👥 More visitors arriving but fewer converting

📊 Tracking issues making leads appear lower than they are

Traffic, rankings and enquiries are connected, but they aren’t the same thing. Looking at the complete customer journey will help you identify where the decline is happening and what needs to change.

Here are some of the most common reasons website leads begin to fall and the areas businesses should investigate first.

How digital marketing helped a manufacturer grow annual turnover from £10m to £13m 🔼

Like many businesses in the manufacturing sector, RMP Products Ltd were initially sceptical about whether digital marketing would work for them.

It was an understandable concern. In their industry, growth had traditionally come through word of mouth, established relationships and repeat business.

We helped RMP strengthen its digital presence with a modern, engaging website built around its services and optimised for search engines.

The result has been a consistent stream of new enquiries and opportunities, supporting the company as it grew beyond its original £10m target and achieved £13m in annual turnover.

That’s 30% above the target they initially set.

A huge thank you to Tom for sharing his experience. We’re proud to continue supporting RMP and playing a part in its ongoing growth.

Welcome to the team Elana! 🙌

After completing her work experience with us recently, we’re delighted to welcome Elana back to OMS as our new apprentice.

She’ll be building on everything she learned during her time with us and gaining hands-on experience across different areas of digital marketing. From writing engaging blog content to helping create social media campaigns.

Elana has already impressed us with her enthusiasm and willingness to learn, and we’re excited to see the fresh ideas she brings to the team and our clients.

We believe young people should be given the opportunity to get involved, contribute and gain meaningful experience from day one, not be left watching from the sidelines.

Welcome to OMS, Elana. We’re looking forward to supporting you as you begin your career in digital marketing!

When someone tells you SEO will generate instant leads… 🤦

Unfortunately for Harry, it doesn’t quite work like that.

SEO is a long-term growth strategy, not a switch you flick for immediate enquiries.

Some businesses may begin to see positive movement within the first few months, but meaningful results often take longer. The timeframe depends on your starting position, competition, website and the work required.

Unlike paid advertising, you aren’t charged whenever somebody clicks on your organic listing. As your visibility and authority grow, SEO can create a more consistent flow of relevant traffic and enquiries over the long term.

So, don’t be like Harry and expect overnight results.

If you need immediate visibility, paid advertising may be the better starting point. If you want to build sustainable organic growth, that’s where SEO comes in.

Enter your registration. Find the right accessories for your car 🚗

It sounds simple, but several developers had already tried to build this functionality for Partsworld and couldn’t get it working correctly.

Then Vicki Norton and the PartsWorld Limited team came to us.

We developed a registration lookup feature that allows Peugeot customers to enter their vehicle registration and quickly find accessories suitable for their specific car.

That means:

✅ Less time spent searching
✅ Greater confidence that products are suitable
✅ Fewer barriers between visiting the website and buying
✅ A faster, easier customer experience

It’s now live for Peugeot customers and will soon be rolled out across Partsworld’s other 20+ manufacturer websites.

Take a look: https://peugeot-accessories.co.uk/

Have you been told that a website feature is too complicated or had another developer struggle to make it work?

That’s exactly the kind of challenge our development team enjoys solving.

You’re a £5m business with a £50k website but your sales team still says all the best leads come from referrals.

Something isn’t working.

Referrals are powerful. They come with trust already built in, but they rarely work alone.

Before contacting you, that referred prospect has most likely:

🔎 Googled your business
💻 Visited your website
⭐ Checked your reviews
📱 Looked at your LinkedIn presence
🏆 Compared you with a competitor

The referral may have started the journey, but your online presence still has to build confidence and convert that interest into an enquiry.

If your website looks outdated, fails to communicate your value or is difficult to use, some of those referrals will quietly disappear and you may never know they existed.

There’s also a bigger commercial risk. What happens to your pipeline if your best referrer retires, is acquired or simply stops recommending you?

Referrals should strengthen your growth strategy, not be the entire strategy.

Your website and digital presence should help you convert more word-of-mouth opportunities while also generating new demand throughout the year.

That’s exactly the gap we help established businesses close.
