🍛 Looking for your next takeaway? Cardiff Spotlight visits India 2 Cardiff

Cardiff Spotlight's Craig Olle recently visited India2Cardiff to sample a selection of dishes from their takeaway menu and see what they had to offer.

We ordered the Chicken Korma, served with pilau rice and a Peshwari naan. The Korma was mild, creamy and full of flavour, with generous pieces of chicken breast and plenty of sauce – ideal for dipping the naan. Alongside that, we tried the Sheek Minced Lamb Kebab, which was well seasoned, full of flavour and cooked just right. Everything arrived piping hot, accompanied by complimentary crunchy poppadoms and a fresh mint chutney sauce.

The friendly welcome and quick service made a great first impression, and with a 20% off collection offer available when we visited, it represented good value too.

Although many people know India2Cardiff for its wide range of traditional Indian curries, biryanis and chef's house specials, there's plenty more on the menu. From pizzas and chicken burgers to spicy Naga Wings, Masala Wings, chicken nuggets and doner kebabs, there's something to suit a variety of tastes, making it a great option for families or groups looking for a takeaway.

If you're looking to try somewhere different for your next takeaway, India2Cardiff is certainly worth considering.

One of the biggest and brightest full moons of the year is set to illuminate the night sky this week 🌕🦌

The Buck Moon reaches its peak during the afternoon of Tuesday 28 July, meaning we won't see the exact moment it's at its fullest. But don't worry, it will still appear beautifully full and impressively large on Tuesday and Wednesday night, giving you plenty of chances to enjoy the spectacle.

The forecast is looking promising too, with cloud expected to clear through the afternoon, offering a good chance of seeing the Moon across much of Wales and the UK.

And while you're gazing skyward, keep an eye out for the Perseid meteor shower, which is active throughout the rest of July and into August. If you're lucky, you might even catch a shooting star streaking across the sky. ✨

Cardiff’s Craig Olle returns to Vivo Latino: A South American Restaurant & Cocktail Bar in Canton to tick another dish off the menu, and it was a winner.

A perfectly cooked steak served with potatas, confit bell peppers, fresh salad, and a selection of delicious sauces. Another great experience at one of Canton’s popular dining hotspots.

🌈🎵CARDIFF PRIDE ANTHEM SET TO LAUNCH THIS FRIDAY 🌈🎵

Cardiff's very own sandwich superstar, Big Mamma, is preparing to launch a brand-new anthem celebrating love, community and inclusivity ahead of Cardiff Pride 2026 weekend celebrations.

Created in collaboration with Cardiff Tracks, Cardiff Pride Tonight will officially launch on Friday 12th June, just in time for one of the Welsh capital's biggest and most colourful weekends.

Known to thousands across the city for her infectious personality, uplifting social media videos and popular Cardiff Sandwich Club, Big Mamma has channelled her trademark positivity into a feel-good city anthem designed to bring people together and celebrate everything that makes Cardiff special.

Adding an extra touch of glamour to the production is Cardiff cabaret star Ice Amour, who will be making a special guest appearance in the accompanying music video. The singer, performer and host joined Big Mamma during filming, helping create what promises to be a vibrant celebration of Cardiff Pride and the city's diverse community spirit.

Featuring references to iconic Cardiff landmarks and a powerful message of acceptance, belonging and unity, Cardiff Pride Tonight aims to capture the atmosphere of Pride weekend.

Big Mamma said she wanted to create a song that reflects "the warmth, diversity and spirit of Cardiff" and gives people something uplifting they can sing together throughout the celebrations.

The iconic Waverley Paddle Steamer delighted Cardiff and Penarth residents today as the historic vessel set sail from Penarth Pier, carrying passengers across the Bristol Channel towards Clevedon before touring the famous islands of Flat Holm and Steep Holm.

Residents and visitors gathered along the seafront to watch the famous ship depart, her distinctive red paddle wheels and traditional steam whistle offering a nostalgic glimpse into Britain's maritime past.

The Waverley holds a unique place in maritime history as the world's last seagoing passenger-carrying paddle steamer. Built on the River Clyde in Glasgow and launched in 1946, she entered service the following year and has since become one of Britain's most treasured heritage vessels.

What makes the ship particularly special is that passengers can still experience authentic steam-powered travel. Deep within the vessel, a powerful triple-expansion steam engine drives the giant paddle wheels, while visitors can watch the machinery at work during their journey, a rare opportunity in an age dominated by modern diesel-powered ferries.

Over the decades, the Waverley has become a much-loved visitor to South Wales, regularly returning to ports around the Bristol Channel and offering passengers a chance to experience travel as previous generations once did. Cruises around Flat Holm and Steep Holm provide spectacular views of two islands rich in wildlife, history and maritime significance.

For many on board today, the journey was about more than simply reaching a destination. It was a chance to step back in time and enjoy one of Britain's most remarkable surviving pieces of living maritime heritage.

Cardiff’s takeaway scene is fiercely competitive, but every now and then a local independent arrives that genuinely raises the standard. In Ely, that business is Chilli Grill Chicken & Pizza- Ely a rapidly growing favourite serving up fresh dough pizzas, grilled burgers, and chicken that’s winning over customers across Cardiff West.

Run by Sandeep Singh and Diana Randhawa, Chilli Grill represents far more than just another takeaway. It’s the product of experience, vision, and a clear understanding of what Cardiff’s takeaway food scene has been missing.

What really sets Chilli Grill apart is its commitment to quality in a market often driven by speed and cost-cutting. Their signature grilled beef burgers are already building a reputation as some of the best on Cardiff’s west side, thick, flavourful, and crafted with care. Meanwhile, their homemade square fresh dough pizzas offer a noticeable upgrade from the standard takeaway fare, delivering the kind of quality customers usually expect from far more expensive establishments.

Even the name tells you exactly what they’re about, Grill isn’t there for nothing. From perfectly grilled chicken to freshly prepared ingredients, there’s a clear focus on flavour, consistency, and customer satisfaction in everything they do.

At a time when many independents are cutting corners, Chilli Grill is proving that investing in quality, delivering value, and putting customers first still matters, and Cardiff is taking notice.
