What a great movie to be seen of the big screen of a great cinema; The Lyric,

Well done Carmarthen Film Club and Carmarthen Bay Film Festival CBFF - Gŵyl Ffilm Bae Caerfyrddin

-- Excellence Should Be Seen On Screen --

As many of you know is the motto and underlying principle of the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival. For this reason we are very happy and extremely excited to be supporting our local film club, the Carmarthen Film Club, based at Lyric Cinema, , .

The Lyric has been made famous, not just here in Wales but around the world by the movie 'Save the Cinema [2022]', based on the campaign headed by Samantha Morton to save The Lyric Cinema in the 1990s and the support that it received to achieve this from none other than Steven Spielberg.

Through out the year the Carmarthen Film Club will be screening classic movies that were made for and should be seen in their rightful place, on the big screen. As well as this, amongst it's schedule will be a range of shorts and features showcasing the best of Welsh, British and international independent filmmaking talent.

With such a wonderful history and an exciting time ahead it is only fitting that this year's Carmarthen Film Club schedule should kick off on February 3rd at 7.30pm at The Lyric with Spielberg's sci-fi masterpiece, 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind', starring Richard Dreyfuss, Melinda Dillon, Teri Garr, Bob Balaban, Cary Guffey, and François Truffaut.

To find out more and book your tickets visit:

Please follow and like Carmarthen Film Club (even if you are not local).

Exciting news about this year's Carmarthen Bay Film Festival CBFF - Gŵyl Ffilm Bae Caerfyrddin.........really looking forward to what should be a very special festival. Congratulation to Kelvin Guy and the CBFF Team on the festival's 10th year anniversary.

Greetings and Congratulations to everyone connected to all the wonderful films that have been selected to be part of CBFF2021.

We have been delaying making any announcement about this year’s Festival in the hope that the current restrictions here in the UK and the rest of the world, would ease sufficiently to allow an in-person festival to take place and for many of you from around the world hoping to join us, to be able to come along. Unfortunately, once again this does not look possible and we have had to make the difficult decision to move CBFF2021 entirely online for this year.

This was to be a feature of anyway and we are very excited to be working with our Festival Partner Sparqfest to take the Carmarthen Bay Film Festival CBFF - Gŵyl Ffilm Bae Caerfyrddin on to the next level and enable you to experience the very best independent film-making wherever you are in the world. and now it will be on your screen; at home, at work, on the train, wherever you are.

So, officially will be taking place from 17th to 20th May entirely online via our dedicated CBFF channel on the platform. More details regarding schedules, registration, etc. to follow shortly.

Next year, ‘Virus Crisis’ permitting, we will be back at Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli for when we will also be throwing our big 10th Anniversary party as part of that year’s festivities. The plan is for this to open the festival and for 2021 award winners to be able to receive their Awards in person. It will be a great way to welcome everyone back and put the past couple of years behind us. However, this is for the future.

In the meantime, we still have an exciting programme of the very best independent film-making from around the world to share with you. Over the next couple of weeks, we will be contacting all the selected film-makers and asking them to submit their films, all their details, logos, trailers and posters, so that it can all be imported onto the new CBFF/Sparq platform. Please keep an eye on your email Inbox and Spam folders as the deadline for receiving this is the 2nd May. If we have not received all necessary materials by then, we will unfortunately not be able to screen your film.

We will also be sending all Award Winners their awards over the next few weeks and will be contacting them to confirm the best address to send these to. Again please keep an eye on your Inbox and Spam folders.

That is all for now, please check back in regularly for news regarding the date of the Awards Nominations announcements and other exciting news.

As a film student at Surrey Institute of Art & Design, University College, I spent hours in the library reading back issues of Sight & Sound | The International Film Magazine when I should have been writing my film theory essays.

It is a special feeling to see ones work becoming part of the cinematic heritage; even if it just the ad you have designed on the back cover! Of course Michèle Wright's fabulous 'slice of life' photography makes designing a real pleasure (Ffotograffiaeth Michele Wright Photography).

Congratulations to Carmarthen Bay Film Festival CBFF - Gŵyl Ffilm Bae Caerfyrddin on celebrating their 10th Anniversary.........and thank you Sight & Sound | The International Film Magazine on all those happy afternoons of filmic awakening and insights.
