Throw back to a gold leaf fascia sign for the very talented .
I happened to be passing at a rare moment when there was no one parked outside and the sun was shining so I stopped and snapped some snaps!
The sign was positively glowing in the sunshine 🌟🌞

Signs have so much more character when they are created by hand.
Whether it's a large shopfront sign or a smaller wayfinding sign for your interior like this one, hand-crafted signs quietly communicate quality, care and personality in a way that printed signs can't quite manage.

This is how we get it all done as independent business owners! Do you agree?

I'm really feeling this at the moment. Instead of building the business I 'should' be building, I'm building the one that is unique to me.
The one that embodies all of my skills, opportunities and unique influences as a designer.

As a traditional signwriter I get pulled in one direction that is contrary to the direction that my graphic design pulls me in and don't get me started on what embracing the robot CNC machine did to an already complex brain fart 😂

But when I have the courage to walk my own path I see a future of expressive lettering on bright, fun brands, gorgeous 3d signs worthy of theme parks, a psychedelic graphic novel and fabulous retail displays for both street vendors and boujee boutiques.

It will all take time but even a tired me is happy to do the work to make that happen 🥳✌️

The festival season will be upon us before we know it! 🌞🪅🤠

This sign was created in collaboration with artist for her gorgeous hand painted clothing. The design, background and posts were painted by Amy herself and she commissioned me to create the lettering.

This week I've been working on another Aboard for Bond St Coffee.

Their internet order A boards were completely weather worn after less than a year (swipe to see the before) so I've dried them out, sanded them back, sealed the wood and refreshed the design.

Cheap signs are a bit like cheap shoes, they will do the job for a bit but you will be back to where you started in a year or so and they will never have looked as good as the well made ones.

Sometimes you've got to buy cheap shoes (and signs) but it's worth investing a bit more at the start if you can ✌️

Currently having a studio purge and one note that I've noticed again and again on scraps of paper is clients saying how much they loved the work I did for them.
For a while I wondered about having the tag line, 'design work you will love!' but I don't know if it says enough 🤔
Tell me, do you love your branding and/or shop sign? If not maybe it's time for an upgrade 😉

I'm pretty knee deep in a sorting out mood at the moment. It feels so necessary in order to be able to build on all the ideas, plans and started projects over the last 3 years. I love seeing the reoccurring themes in my work. This year I'm trying to organise them in a way they can actually be utilised 🥴 wish me luck 😂

4. I'll email the designs over to you to get some feedback.

5. I'll make any changes necessary and email across the final files.

It's as easy as that, and imagine how good it will feel to get those pesky 'to do's' done without even opening Canva! (I promise it will look better too 😉)
