Before you spend more money on ads or put more effort into SEO, there's something worth checking first.

Is your website actually making it easy for people to get in touch?

Think of it like a shop. If people are walking in but can't find what they need, getting more people through the door won't necessarily solve the problem.

You can set up all the tracking in the world — GA4, UTMs, the lot. But tech has its limits.

One of the simplest things you can do is just ask:

“How did you hear about us?”

Ask it on your enquiry form, in an email or when you’re speaking to a new customer.

You might find people discovered you through a recommendation, saw your name somewhere weeks ago, came across you at an event, or followed you for months before finally getting in touch.

Not everything fits neatly into your analytics.

Sometimes simply asking your customers gives you the missing piece — and a much better idea of what’s actually bringing people to your business.

It's a proper look at why your website might be getting traffic but not converting it into enquiries or sales. We web designers love our geeky acronyms — SEO, DNS, HTTP, GEO, CMS, CTA, the list goes on. Most of it you genuinely don't need to know. But there's one that could really help your business right now, and it's probably one of the least well-known: CRO = Conversion Rate Optimisation. It's not about driving more traffic to your site (sometimes even the wrong traffic) — it's about making sure the people already there actually do the thing you want them to, whether that's buying, enquiring, or donating. TTFN!
