Following our recent refresh, it felt like the perfect time to introduce myself and share a little more about the person behind the studio.

I’m Rich, the face behind Maple Rock Design. I’ve spent over 20 years working across design and web development and have been running Maple Rock since 2016. From design and print to WordPress, static websites and custom software… I love creating intelligent solutions to help your business stand out & thrive.

I’m aiming to do more behind-the-scene stuff, so if that sounds like your kind of thing, stick around.

🎉🥳🎂🎁 Wow! Ten years… Happy Birthday Maple Rock Mk II 🎉🥳🎂🎁

Not really sure where the time goes. Taking on a business on the cusp of Brexit (🇪🇺💪), surviving a pandemic and the 💩 show that followed. It’s certainly not been plain sailing but I think we’ve had fun in the process?

Huge thank you to all of our current and past clients for trusting us to get creative with design and code ❤️🥰

This industry is mad at the best of times but right now we’re living through a taxing period of time with the influx of design and tech AI slop. Here’s to the next ten years whatever that might look like 😬💪😮‍💨

Wow! Last time I checked it was March… I started the year with good intent to keep the grid up to date yet here we are at the end of June. Another financial year end. It’s actually ten years since we took the helm of good ship Maple Rock 🎂🎉🥳

So what have we been up to in the last six months (the first flying fully solo 😬!!)

1. Built two custom React web applications. Its growing on my slowly after many years of Vue.
2. Delivered a multilingual, secure static website with progressive enhancement (fully functional without JavaScript)
3. Launched our first full WordPress block theme 🎉
4. Designed lots of things…multilingual documents, posters, exhibition stands, brochures, flyers.
5. Illustrated/designed custom T-shirts👕
6. Ongoing Laravel & WordPress support for existing clients
7. Website consultancy: upgrades, performance, SEO & future-proofing
8. Expanded the print studio 🖨️
• Large-format printer added.
Still finding my way around this machine but we’re getting there!
• Heat press upgraded
9. All whilst fighting the Ai slop 🤖Powered by human creativity = my brain, my experience 💪
