Here’s my latest work in progress - a sprig of eucalyptus. I had some in a bouquet recently and the smell was incredible. Dare I say it... it even reminded me of Christmas, and it’s inspired the start of my next collection.

Before creating a repeat pattern, I always brainstorm (do people still say that? Well, I do!) what will work together in terms of shapes, colours and theme. For this one, I’m thinking nature-meets-festive, but with a twist: soft sage green, icy cream and dusty pink.

I’m planning to combine eucalyptus with sprigs of ivy, stems of King Protea, Silver Brunea and pods of Damascus Nigella - not your usual festive palette, but perfect as a backdrop for real foliage and pine cones.

Once I’ve painted all the elements, I’ll arrange them digitally into a pattern and add them to lifestyle products. For this project, I’m thinking table runner, napkins and tablecloth, something that feels seasonal without being traditional.

As Fractional Content Marketing Manager at Albee’s Travel, I’m lucky to work regularly alongside founder Albee. I support on monthly blogs and newsletters, and we also have planning sessions for ad-hoc projects, always with enough time for a good old natter!

Loving the feedback from one of my first product orders 😍

These wonderful 70cm x 50cm tea towels are handmade to order in the UK. I have 4 designs to choose from - all inspired by the quirky flora and fauna around us.

You can choose to go for a 100% Panama cotton, or a cotton-linen 95-5 mix. It also comes with a handy hanging loop. Rachael also opted to add a pretty navy blue wavy edge - such a pretty detail (you can also choose ecru, red or turquoise, or go for a plain edge).

Haven’t done one of these in a while, but here’s my wonderful word for today is SURLY. The meaning is ‘often in a bad mood, unfriendly’ (Cambridge Dictionary).

It sounds brilliantly stern and sassy, and conjures up memories of my sister as a teenager!

The Challenge:
Albee’s Africa wanted to increase enquiry and booking levels. It was also important to inform existing customers that they now offer worldwide luxury travel options, not just trips to Africa.

The Solution:
We discussed the importance of regular and consistent messaging and agreed that a monthly newsletter, with a professional yet conversational tone, would be sent to her existing database.

The Results:
The first three emails have generated both compliments and enquiries. What’s more, the content created has saved the company time, as they’ve also used it for their social channels. An average email open rate of 78.2% has been achieved.

Our client wrote:

I have a love/hate relationship with the colour yellow. When I had my colours done a few years ago (highly recommended), daffodil yellow ended up on my ‘yes’ list, but I still find it a hard colour to wear. As always, I think it’s more about the tone – I love a warm ochre, yellow, but a cool lemon yellow makes me twitch!

We’ve just come back from a wonderful family holiday in Minterne Magna, Dorset. While the kids enjoyed exploring the amazing grounds at where we were staying, I took the opportunity to get my paintbrushes out. Not sure I’m a big fan of landscapes (see last image) – how on earth do people make them look so realistic? Plenty of practice needed, I guess… I was going to try painting the Cerne Abbas Giant but decided to protect his modesty instead!

Anyhow, such a beautiful part of the world – we managed to get a good dose of sea air and indulge in plenty of ice cream. The accommodation was great too - our lovely hosts even gave us a tour of their historic home - well worth a visit if you head to Dorset.

Sounds a bit Roald Dahl to me and I really love the way the shape of the word naturally makes you say it with emphasis!
