🚨 YOUR HOLIDAY PHOTOS COULD BE TELLING BURGLARS EXACTLY WHAT THEY NEED TO KNOW.

That gorgeous beach selfie...
The airport check-in...
The "Two weeks in Spain 🌴☀️" post...
They're lovely memories.
But they can also send one very clear message:
"Nobody's home."
I know that sounds dramatic, but as a social media coach, it's something I think more people need to be aware of.
When you post in real time that you're away, you're not just sharing your holiday with friends and family. Depending on your privacy settings, who's following you, who's viewing your Stories, or who someone else shares your content with, you could also be advertising that your home is empty for days or even weeks.
And here's something else that many parents don't think about...

📱 Talk to your children too.

Your teenager posting "Off to Greece ✈️" on Snapchat, Instagram or TikTok can reveal just as much as your own posts.
Many young people have large friend lists, accept people they don't really know, or have location features switched on without realising it.
It's worth having a conversation before you go away.
"Let's enjoy the holiday first and share the photos when we're home."
It's a simple habit that could make a real difference.
💬 "But how would anyone know where I live? I've never posted my address."
That's what many people think.
The reality is that people can piece together far more information than you realise.

For example:
📍 Your Instagram location sharing or map features may reveal places you regularly visit.
📍 Your children's Snap Maps may show exactly where they are—or where they usually are.
🏡 Photos you've shared over the years may include your house number, street name, distinctive front door, driveway, car registration, school uniform, local landmarks or recognisable views.
📦 Delivery photos or "new home" posts can unintentionally reveal your address.
🏷️ Friends and family might tag you at your home without you even noticing.
🗺️ Local Facebook groups often reveal the area you live in.
👤 Your profile may list your workplace, your children's school, your hometown and the clubs or gyms you attend. Individually these seem harmless, but together they can build a surprisingly accurate picture.
🧩 A determined person doesn't usually rely on one piece of information. They connect lots of small pieces together.

Before you head off on holiday, here's my social media safety checklist:

✅ Wait until you're home before posting holiday photos and videos.
✅ Turn off location sharing where you don't need it.
✅ Check whether Instagram, Snapchat or other apps are sharing your location.
✅ Review your privacy settings and who can actually see your posts.
✅ Talk to your children about not posting in real time while you're away.
✅ Ask family members not to announce that you're on holiday either.
✅ Avoid posting countdowns like "Off tomorrow for two weeks!" or "Can't believe we've left the house empty!"
✅ Save the memories while you're away and enjoy the moment—you can share everything once you're safely back home.
Social media is an amazing tool. I make my living helping people use it well, and I genuinely love it.
But part of using it well is understanding the risks as well as the rewards.
A little awareness goes a long way.
Enjoy your holiday. Make incredible memories.
Just consider sharing them after you've returned home.

There’s another super simple way to grow on Instagram right now…

Carousels! Did you know that carousel posts with music added are one of the BEST ways to grow?

Carousel posts can and are getting more views than Reels right now : and if you add audio to them then they are eligible to feature in the Reels feed too (not many people know this!)

As long as you have a good strategy for your carousel posts then you will get really good results and more eyes on your account.

Follow for more on this!

👋🏻 The biggest lesson I’ve learnt from growing my own brand and helping thousands of small businesses...

You don’t need to become someone else online to grow. 🤍

The businesses that stand out aren’t always the ones creating the trendiest content or trying to look perfect.

They’re the ones that let people see the real person behind the business.

The personality.
The passion.
The knowledge.
The reason they started.

I’m Kat — a social media coach and strategist helping small businesses create content that feels authentic, builds trust and attracts the right customers.

Because the best strategy will always be the one that feels like YOU.

If you’re trying to grow online but feel like you’re constantly comparing yourself to others… remember:

Your biggest advantage is being yourself. ✨

Follow along for practical social media advice without the pressure to become someone you’re not.

Over the years, I’ve worked with thousands of business owners who all started in a similar place:

❌ Unsure what to post
❌ Overthinking every piece of content
❌ Struggling to stay consistent
❌ Wondering why social media wasn’t delivering the results they wanted

What changed wasn’t that they suddenly had more time.

They had a strategy.

The clients I work with become more confident in their content, clearer in their messaging, more consistent in their marketing, and far more focused on the actions that actually move their business forward.

Sometimes you’re just too close to your own business to see what’s possible.

That’s where I come in.

If you’re tired of guessing what to post, questioning whether your social media is working, or feeling like you’re putting in effort without seeing enough return, let’s change that.

One conversation could be the turning point.

Send me a message if you’re feeling frustrated with your social media and need some clarity 👌🏻

Here’s why I no longer share my Trial reels to my followers…

Trial Reels get shown to people who haven’t discovered your account yet. They’re not meant for your existing audience, so you need a different strategy for them.

* Best practice 1: Let your Trial Reel stay in the Trial algorithm. Let it run in the background.

* * Best practice 2: If a Trial Reel does well and you want it on your feed, just post it again (or download it from Edits and share it as a normal Reel). Don’t convert the Trial, and then you have two going at once!

* Best practice 3: Your Trial should feel like a warm hello...who you are, who you help, what you share, and why someone should follow. Focus on connection for best results. Hooks like “Patiently waiting for all the people who love to find my account” or “POV: You want _ [their desire] in 2026 and find my account”.

Save this as a reminder share it with a friend and follow me for all of the Instagram tips you need.

I’ve analysed over 3,000 business bios on Instagram.

Let me tell you something:
There is a direct correlation between a strong bio and follower growth.

There is a right way to structure your bio.
And if there’s one thing I can tell you : do not skip these 5 things.

1. Your Name Field Is Searchable : e.g Estate Agents

Your name must be structured like this:

Name | Keyword + Location

For example:
John Smith | Estate Agent London

If someone cannot tell what you do in one glance, you are invisible in search.

2. Your Description Must Be Crystal Clear

Your bio isn’t about you. It’s about them.
Use this structure:
Line 1: Who you help + where (be specific)Line 2: Your value or positioning (why should they follow you?)Line 3: A clear call to action (tell them exactly what to do)
If I land on your page and I’m confused, I leave.
Clarity converts.

3. Your Profile Picture Must Build Credibility
At thumbnail size, clarity wins.
A clear photo of your face will outperform a logo almost every time : especially if you’re trying to grow a personal brand.
Logos don’t build connection. Faces do.

4. Your Highlights Should Build Trust
Your highlights aren’t decorative : they’re proof.
The most effective ones I see:
* Start Here
* Services / Work With Me
* Results
* Reviews
Less is more.Keep them niche-relevant.And refresh them consistently.
Dead highlights = no trust.

5. Your Pinned Posts Should Position You

Your top 3 pinned posts should do the heavy lifting.

The highest-converting combination I’ve seen:

An introduction post : who you are, what you do, who you help

Your best result within your niche

A testimonial : ideally told in story format

When someone lands on your page, they should immediately understand:

Who you are.
What you do.
Why they should trust you.

After thousands of audits, I can tell you this confidently:
Most people do not have a content problem.
They have a positioning problem.

I’m Kat, a social media coach and strategist with over 20 years of marketing and social media experience.

If you’re stuck on what to post, try a carousel (multiple image post) with music added

Carousels are great because they often get a second chance in the feed if a follower misses it the first time, and adding audio makes them eligible for the Reels tab.

Winner winner 👏🏻 🏆
