Want help with your DIY website content? Having been in sales, marketing and promotional roles since 1976, the time has come to share the lessons learned in that time with anyone who is having to maintain and manage their own web site. To get the best results takes a set of skills that have more to do with marketing and human relationships than with technology. The tech is the easy part.

From September 7th, for 12 Weeks, each Wednesday will be spent delivering a module a week from the soup to nuts version of how to manage your web site. It is painfully easy to spot, but then everything is when you are not rushed off your feet, trying to do ten things at once and under the kind of pressure that running a business in our current economic state brings.

Village Websmith customer Decorworks, recently had their work recognised by the Oxford Preservation Trust. They had been called on to complete the decoration and careful cleaning of the ceiling of St Mary Magdalen Church, following a roof repair. Using traditional methods and materials, the results were good enough for the overall project to be given a certificate in the 2020 OPT awards scheme.

Yay! We have lots of these little teeny purple flowers growing in the tyre garden outside the websmithy. I haven't a clue what they are but the bees seem to love them, which was why we put them there. Any suggestions as to what they are so that I can show off and pretend to know stuff will be welcome :-)

As I recall, Douglas Adams said in the introduction to 'So Long and Thanks for All the Fish', "Welcome to the fifth book in the increasingly mis-named trilogy..." Echoing that sentiment is Village Websmith customer, the increasingly mis-named Pristine Carpet Cleaning Services in Essex.

Why are they mis-named? Well, thirty years ago when they started, their mission was to clean carpets. Now, the business has evolved gradually over the years to offer specialist cleaning not only for carpets but also for upholstery, hard flooring such as wood, stone or vinyl, and outdoor hard surfaces like patios, driveways, car parks, pathways and brick or stone work.

In fact, the only two things unchanged over that time are the name and the level of service offered. During the Covid-19 crisis, the company is continuing operations but with social distancing measures in place like alternating rooms and communicating by phone even while on site.
