Gym edition.

If I was your media manager, this is what I’d post for a small strength gym:

real member wins,
coach intros,
old-school gym atmosphere,
lifting tips,
boxing and PT sessions,
testimonials,
behind the scenes,
community moments,
and a simple reason to walk through the door.

Because with a gym like this, people are not buying polished mirrors and neon slogans.

They’re buying the feeling of training somewhere real.

Somewhere focused.

Somewhere they can put their head down and get stronger.

The best small gyms don’t need to look fancy online.
They need to show the right people exactly what they’re about.

Who should I do next?

If you are using carousels and reels like they do the same job. This is for you!

They might both sit on your Instagram grid, but they work very differently, and if you understand that, your content gets a whole lot smarter.

Carousels are brilliant for the people who already know you. They give you space to go deeper, explain an idea properly, tell a story, teach something useful, or share a point of view with a bit more substance. They’re less about chasing random attention and more about building connection with the audience you’ve already earned. They’re the format that helps turn followers into a proper community. The people who are already in your world are more likely to slow down, swipe through, save your post, share it, or leave a comment, and those early engagement signals can help the content travel further.
And if your cheerleaders (we see you … we love you) engage… well instagram will push your content.

Reels play a different game.

Reels are built for discovery, and where you’ll find your new followers. They’re much more likely to be shown to people who have never heard of you, never seen your face, and have absolutely no reason to care unless you give them one fast. That’s why reels need to get to the point quickly. The hook matters more. The framing matters more. The clarity matters more. You’re not speaking to a warm audience who already understands your context. You’re speaking to a stranger who is scrolling at speed and deciding in seconds whether to stay or move on.

If you’re making a carousel, think depth, trust, value, and engagement. Give your existing audience something worth sitting with.

If you’re making a reel, think speed, curiosity, clarity, and stopping power. Give new people a reason to notice you before they scroll straight past.

So before you create anything, ask yourself one question:

Am I trying to nurture the audience I already have, or reach the audience I don’t have yet?

Because once you know that, your content gets sharper, your message gets clearer, and you stop forcing one format to do a job it was never built to do.

Carousels build connection.
Reels build reach & new followers

If I was your social media manager - Florist edition 🌸

If I was planning content for a florist brand, this is the kind of mix I’d build:
signature work, behind the scenes, client love, flower care tips, seasonal picks, style, story, and an easy path to order.

Building an account to give people more than one reason to follow…. Full of personality, trust, and a sense of what it feels like to buy from you ♥️

The aim of each post is intentional (not random posting for the sake of it!) based upon your business plan, and tracked to see what works and is not working for you…

Who should I do next?!!!!

The wedding photographer edition…

If I were managing a wedding photographer’s Instagram, this is the mix I’d use:

portfolio posts,
behind-the-scenes content,
personal brand posts,
testimonials,
planning tips,
style-led inspiration,
and a simple booking journey.

The curious creative doesn’t fit neatly into a job title.

They write, design, strategise, shoot, edit, direct, build, rethink… and then do it all again in a different industry just to understand it better.

Not because they’re unfocused.
Because they’re wired to connect dots others don’t even see.

The problem is the traditional job market still rewards straight lines.

One role. One function. One clear progression.
Stay in your lane. Go deeper, not wider.

So what happens to the people who think laterally?

They get labelled as inconsistent.
Jack of all trades. Hard to place.
Too broad. Not specialised enough.

When in reality, they’re the ones who can:

– Translate complexity into clarity
– Move between industries without friction
– Build ideas, not just execute tasks
– See patterns before they become obvious

The future doesn’t belong to linear thinkers.
It belongs to people who can adapt, connect, and create across boundaries.

The curious creative isn’t the problem.

Hand-drawn. Hand-carved. Hand-printed.
Which means no two are the same, and none of them are interested in being perfect.

These lino prints are printed on heavyweight, frame-worthy paper. Also perfectly happy living in a junk journal, or turning up as a card with an envelope and your own dangerously sincere message inside.

If you’re after soft pink hearts and supermarket romance, keep scrolling.

If your Valentine energy is Gothic Romance, non-basic, slightly unhinged but deeply intentional… ermm Hey.

Make me an offer (please include P&P). I’d rather these go to homes where they’re loved than end up sulking and unloved in a storage box.

Next up: lino meets gelli plate. No plan, more chaos.

I know it must be confusing.

You follow this page because it was about female portraits.

And a lot has happened since I began the photography journey over 20 years ago… Jesus I’m old!!!

BUT whether I was photographing weddings, to portraits, to creating works within my MA degree… the same message was throughout.

To give a voice.

To tell their story, their wedding story… to the “A mile in her Shoes” here in Red Shoe… to exploring the projection onto and from the female… to asking “What is masculinity?” at BA and MA Degree level.

It’s always about a voice…

Your voice.

And along side this journey, I’ve had to harness my own social media voice… or the girl wasn’t getting paid! This is/was my work.. and what a beautiful journey it’s been. Nothing stays the same.

But the message is the same… I now work with others in sharing their voice, their passion, their service, their expertise…

In a world of Ai, there is still a need for connection… that’s our humanity and that my darling is very beautiful x
