⚠️ Umbraco 13 reaches End of Life this December

If your website is running on Umbraco 13, it’s worth starting conversations about your upgrade path now.

From 14th December 2026, Umbraco 13 will no longer receive:
🔐 Security updates
🛠️ Bug fixes
📦 Official support

We’re already working with clients on smooth transitions to Umbraco 17 LTS - helping ensure their platforms remain secure, supported and future-ready.

Every upgrade is different, but spending time auditing and planning upfront makes a huge difference to the process 📋

If you’d like to discuss what an upgrade could look like for your site, feel free to get in touch.

No two websites are quite the same - even when they’re built on the same platform 🧩🌐

Different users, different goals, different internal processes.

That’s why we always avoid a one-size-fits-all approach. Every project we work on takes a more bespoke approach - shaped around the organisation, the people using the site, and what the platform actually needs to achieve.

Taking the time to understand the context always leads to better decisions - and better outcomes 💡

One thing we always aim to do early in a project is involve the right people 👥🗣️

Stakeholders, content teams, technical leads - everyone brings a different perspective, and those perspectives matter.

It helps us understand how the website is actually used day-to-day, not just how it’s expected to work on paper.

Collaboration always leads to better decisions early on, and far fewer surprises later 👍

The biggest mistake we see? ⚠️

Treating a website like a one-off project.

Launch it ✔️
Leave it ❌

The best-performing sites are the ones that evolve - small improvements, regular updates, ongoing refinement 🔄

That’s where the real gains come from.

At Brace Digital, we specialise in Umbraco support and maintenance, helping clients keep their websites performing long after launch.

We’re actively working on a number of Umbraco v17 upgrades currently for our clients 🔄💻

Each one is slightly different - and with that comes continuous knowledge building that we can apply to future upgrades.

The aim is always the same: make the transition smooth, reduce risk, and avoid unnecessary disruption.

Spending time auditing and planning upfront is a key part of any Umbraco upgrade, helping ensure a smoother process and fewer surprises along the way 📋

👏 Great to see this recognition for our client

We’re really pleased to see Unity Mutual shortlisted for the 2026 Awards for Innovation and Transformation in the Best Website Transformation category.

It was a fantastic project to be part of, and a real collaborative effort from everyone involved. The focus throughout was on creating a platform that makes financial information more accessible and inclusive - something we’re proud to have contributed to.

A big congratulations to the Unity Mutual team and everyone involved in bringing it to life 👏

🔐 Cyber Essentials Certified

We’re pleased to share that Brace Digital has achieved Cyber Essentials certification - a UK government-backed scheme designed to help organisations protect against common cyber threats.

For us, it’s about reinforcing something that already sits at the core of how we work: building and supporting websites that are secure, reliable and trusted.

From how we manage data to how we deploy and maintain platforms, security is considered at every stage.

🖥️ Homepage refresh now live for Berneslai Homes 🎉

We recently launched a refreshed homepage for Berneslai Homes - designed to modernise the look and improve how key information is presented to users.

The focus was on creating a cleaner, more contemporary design while also introducing new functionality - including enhanced visibility of events, making it easier for users to see what’s happening and get involved 📅✨

Alongside the visual updates, accessibility remained a key priority. As with all public sector websites, the home page has been developed in line with WCAG 2.2 AA standards 🌐 - ensuring it works effectively for all users.

It’s a great example of how targeted improvements can enhance both design and functionality, without the need for a full site rebuild.

🌐 A phased design refresh for Barnsley Council

Rather than a full redesign, we’ve been working with Barnsley Council on a gradual evolution of their website - https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/

Phase 1 focused on the homepage and global elements such as the header and footer.
Phase 2 introduced refreshed landing pages and an improved news section.

The goal? A more modern, brighter look using updated brand colours - while introducing new functionality to better showcase news and campaigns on the homepage. 📰✨

As a public sector website, everything had to meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards 🎨 ensuring the refreshed design works for everyone.

A great example of how thoughtful, phased improvements can modernise a site without the need for a full redesign and build.

The biggest website mistake businesses make (and don’t realise) 👀

Launching a website and then… forgetting about it.

A website isn’t a one-off project. It’s a digital platform that should evolve as your business grows.

Regular updates, improvements and upgrades keep it secure, relevant and performing well.

That’s why many of our clients choose ongoing website support with Brace Digital - giving them the confidence that their Umbraco site is maintained, improved and ready for whatever comes next.

Because the best websites are never truly finished.
