I was born and raised in the East end and can remember sitting on the step of a pub called the Barley Mow waiting for one of the family to bring us out a lemonade and a biscuit
As time went on and I myself started to out on a weekend so many bars including some of my own all carried music some live bands like soul Debbie and Brian spence on a Sunday in the horn of plenty we had compares drummers organ players saxophone the compare would sing a few numbers and then one by one he would call customers up to sing a couple of songs most in their Sunday best seafood on the bars roast spuds and cheese and biscuits there were so much competition from all the bars around the east end in fact you could work your way around these bars have a great day meet so many friends include licensees and customers in fact I met my pal Terry Naylor and Kathy in the horn of plenty he used to get up and everyone loved his singing a real crooner and of course one of my heroes playing for the spurs.
So what's my point there is not a lot of our pubs left in the east end and that's a massive shame we have to try and save what's left.
There is a great little bar in morning lane called the Globe
The great thing is they run a karaoke run by Alan and Mary it's called the Monday club and I go each Monday its a bit of the old east end still living there are many different characters but all lovely people want to save this bar some singers are brilliant some like me do their best lol but everyone that gets up gets a nice round of applause
Now I need a massive favour from you all whether you want to pop in and say hello or not can I ask you to put it out there by a like and share and please ask your contacts to like and SHARE
Thanking you all in advance
PS they give great sandwiches and sausage rolls
Not that I eat many myself lol.
