It's 3 years since my step-daughter challenged me to learn to cycle. I cycled 900 miles of Devon's lanes in 2022. This year it's 530 miles so far. I love taking the bike on the GWR trains and cycling the Sustrans Devon routes.

3rd May 2023 I caught the train to Plymouth and cycled to Okehampton as practice for a charity ride. I was hoping to get to Tavistock in 2 hours, but I got there in 4 hour. I got lost in Plymouth and took longer to get up the hills than I expected. I also learnt that the 'Summer Route' from Mary Tavy to Lydford was not the quickest way to go. Several plusses: I saw the Plym Peregrine family feeding 3 chicks from Cann viaduct, I met lots of friendly people and gave out some posters about my charity ride.

It was great to get out on my electric bike Friday morning. Carbon Savvy UK

I cycled from Chulmleigh to the Meshaw Moor Devon Wildlife Trust reserve. I rode back via Chawleigh (and the newly re-opened Earl of Portsmouth pub), Great Western Railway Eggesford Station (stopping to buy veg at the The Plant Shed, Copplestone , Eggesford!) and Heywood Wood Forestry England

I didn't allow enough time to search for Heath Fritillary butterflies. I did see Meadow Browns, Painted Ladies and a Mother Shipton moth amongst the profusion of wild flowers at this site.
