AI can draw it—but can it be stitched? 🧵
I’m seeing more and more AI-generated embroidery designs being sent to me week on week—and AI is a brilliant tool for creating ideas and showing how a design might look on a garment.
AI is a brilliant tool for creating ideas and showing how a design might look on a garment. By all means, use it for inspiration—but please remember that an AI-generated image isn’t an embroidery file, nor is it proof that the design can be recreated exactly in thread.
AI doesn’t consider the size of the finished embroidery, the thickness of thread, tiny lettering, stitch density, fabric movement or awkward areas such as the side panel of a cap.
That doesn’t necessarily mean your idea can’t be used. It may simply need some details removing, lettering enlarging or the overall design simplifying to produce a clean, professional result.
So bring me your AI-generated ideas and let’s discuss what’s realistically achievable. Together, we can adapt the design into something that will work beautifully in real life—as well as looking good on a screen. 😊
