Heyyyyy team! Just checking in with a little reminder that it’s about the whole picture. We didn’t pick this self employed mover and shaker life to only grind. We picked it to stay creative, to make community, to bring our beautifully individual gifts to the world and experience it all. We hope the summer juggle isn’t killing off the best parts of all this for you and if it is remember to stop and take stock. Get your feet in the grass and remember what it’s all for.

We think we have the best circle going! Our community is amazing- always there with support, ideas, connections, different perspectives and Charlie & I are forever your hype girls.

A smaller Breakfast Club this morning thanks to the summer holiday juggle, but proof that smaller rooms can often lead to the biggest conversations.

Charlie’s talk on being a trend follower or a trailblazer sparked some brilliant discussion. It takes bravery to back a new idea, to stay agile and to keep testing what works. There are absolutely times to jump on a trend, especially on social media, but sustainable growth rarely comes from copying everyone else. It comes from knowing what fits your business, being authentic and having the confidence to do things your way.

We also loved hearing more from Lauren at Tropic Skincare and Laura from Flora Grafik. So many inspiring stories and honest conversations shared around the table.

Have a brilliant summer everyone! We’ll be back on 7th September, and if previous years are anything to go by, September Breakfast Club almost always sells out.

At The Hook Project we are most proud of our emphasis on inclusivity and good vibes for all. We will always be working to be curious about every demographic within our small business community and this Pride month we will be shouting from the rooftops about our LGBTQIA+ business owners and business owner who specially and enthusiastically look to support the LGBTQIA+ community.

“Hi 👋! I’m Danni, a transformative life coach who doubles as a pub operations manager by day. All my work revolves around connection and I pride myself on creating safe, inclusive spaces where everyone can show up entirely as themselves.

As someone who came out later in life, I realise now more than ever the importance of Pride. I’m sad to admit how naive I’d been in that we still have a long way to go as a society which is why Pride is so so important.

For me, Pride means total inclusivity. It’s knowing I can kiss my girlfriend in public without having to think or look around first and knowing we can go into places and feel safe. Pride is all about celebrating loving the person you love and I feel incredibly proud to be part of such an important community 💖”
