A not-so-little Google update happened while OPC was on holiday, and we've got to say, we couldn't be more delighted. Launching what it calls the "helpful content update," Google wants to see people being able to access more original, helpful content written by people, for people.
Thankfully, our clients are already doing this and reaping the rewards, but what is 'helpful content'?
Helpful content is copy and other content (visuals are just as important) that is created for people rather than search engines. It's a little more complicated than this, but that's the crux of it.
So, you need to know who your audience is, what their pain points and desires are, and how you can genuinely help them. And yes, this often means not 'selling' to them at the earliest opportunity.
