Kanga Health Ltd

Kanga Health Ltd We are a digital, omnichannel and CX transformation and delivery agency for pharma and healthcare. Welcome to Kanga.

We are a team of experts that helps companies transform their marketing for a digital world and embed digital channels into healthcare communications. Most of our clients are pharmaceutical companies but we also work across industries. Many organisations still spend 80-90% of their marketing budget on face to face and printed channels, but their customers do more then 90% of their information-seeking in digital channels – online and mobile. The same applies to non-promotional medical communications.

The problem is not always a lack of patient or HCP insight.

Sometimes, organisations already have more insight than they can realistically use.

The challenge is turning fragmented findings into clear priorities and practical decisions.

This requires teams to move beyond asking:
“What did we learn?”

And start asking:
“What should change because of what we learned?”

A well-designed insight activation process can help teams identify the most important findings, connect them to business and customer needs, and agree the actions that should follow.

Which of these signs feels most familiar?

Pharma teams invest significant time and resources in understanding patients and HCPs.

Interviews are conducted. Research is commissioned. Advisory boards are held. Journey maps are created.

But collecting insight is not the same as using it.

Insight only creates value when it changes something:
• A decision
• A customer journey
• A piece of content
• A service or experience
• The questions a team asks next

The real challenge is often not gathering more insight.

It is creating a clear route from what people have told us to what the organisation will do differently.

Where does insight most commonly become stuck in your organisation?

What does it really mean to walk in a patient’s shoes?

Meaningful patient engagement goes beyond surveys and advisory boards. It means understanding the whole lived patient experience, involving patients early and allowing their experiences to shape what happens next.

Here is a familiar patient engagement timeline:

The team defines the problem.

The team develops the strategy.

The team creates the solution.

Patients review it.

The team calls it co-creation.

But asking patients to comment on something that is nearly finished is consultation.

It may improve the final output, but it gives patients little opportunity to influence the decisions that matter most.

True co-creation starts before the answer exists.

Patients can help uncover the need, challenge assumptions and shape the question itself.

There is a significant difference between asking:

“Do you like what we created?”

and:

“Are we solving the right problem?”

Patients should not only review the solution.

They should help shape what gets built in the first place.

At what point are patients usually involved in your development process?

Young people are not only the future of health. Their experiences, ideas and priorities matter now.

This International Youth Day, we are reflecting on the importance of youth voice in creating healthier, more inclusive futures, and on the role organisations can play in helping young people see a place for themselves in our industry.
We have really enjoyed welcoming work experience students and supporting young people as they take their first steps into the world of work. Their curiosity, questions and fresh perspectives have brought energy to our team and challenged us to see familiar problems differently.

Inclusion starts by making space: space to listen, space to learn and space for young people to influence what comes next.
How can our industry create more meaningful opportunities for young voices to be heard?

Make space for young voices.

A patient pathway might show diagnosis, treatment and follow-up.

But it rarely shows the school run before an appointment. The full working day managed alongside side effects. The two-hour journey to a specialist centre. The unanswered question someone searches for late at night.

Patients spend far more time living their lives than interacting with healthcare.

When we focus only on clinical touchpoints, we risk designing for the moments healthcare can see while overlooking everything that happens in between.

That is often where the real barriers sit.

Meaningful patient engagement starts when we look beyond the pathway and understand the life surrounding it.

Because patients live lives, not pathways.

What might we learn if we paid more attention to what happens between appointments?

What does it take to move from patient insight to measurable impact?

At Kanga, we believe effective patient engagement starts by bridging the gap between understanding lived patient experiences and improving patient outcomes.

That means bringing patients in as early as possible, not waiting until ideas, content, services or support have already been designed.

The strongest programmes are co-created with patients, not simply reviewed by them. They are shaped around lived experience, built around the moments that matter, and designed to deliver meaningful, measurable value.

It also means recognising that patient engagement should not sit within one team alone. To create sustainable impact, it needs to be integrated across strategy, medical, marketing, communications, access and wider cross-functional teams.

Our recent session explored how the right foundations can help teams build patient engagement programmes that are more relevant, practical and measurable.

Let’s talk about how to build the right foundations from the start.

This Men’s Mental Health Week, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the numbers and the people behind them.

Behind every statistic is someone’s friend, colleague, partner, brother, son or dad.

You do not need the perfect words to check in.

A simple “How are you really doing?” can be a powerful place to start.

Let’s keep making space for men to talk, be heard and get support when they need it.
