New release alert: Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1 on NIntendo Switch, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X!
Metal Gear's stock doesn't ride quite as high as it once did so it's easy to forget just what an impact Metal Gear Solid on the PlayStation 1, Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons Of LIberty on the PS2 and, to a lesser extent, Metal Gear Solid 3 Snake Eater on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 had. The first Solid game was truly groundbreaking, an astonishing 3D 'tactical espionage thriller' which took everything that was great about the old Nintendo Famicom / NES game and multiplied it by a factor of about a million. The sequel felt like the first game to fully harness the power of the PS2, with Sega Dreamcast owners who had traded in their console and a bunch of brilliant games for what had effectively been a DVD player that also played Ridge Racer V and Tekken Tag Tournament finally feeling vindicated. In the days before Grand Theft Auto and Call Of Duty really went supernova, Metal Gear Solid was just about the most impressive, most groundbreaking series. So if you're tired of slinging your webs on Spider-Man 2 on PS5 or jumping up and down on Super Marion Bros. Wonder on Switch or exploring the universe on Starfield on Xbox Series X, or you just want to slow things down a bit while also reliving the good ole days, check this collection out!
