🧹 This weekend’s Gateshead Town Centre spring clean has been a huge success 🧹

Yesterday I had a shovel in my hand at the Old Town Hall but today was a bit less strenuous, talking to students who were planting flowers and helping make our local area look better. Pleasure to meet these inspiring young people - and get a sneak peek at the brilliant new Gateshead murals!

The credit for all of the work this weekend, and so much more, goes to the volunteers who have pitched in. But none if us could have done it without the coordination, energy and ideas of Victoria Oxley the town centre manager. We are so lucky have people like Victoria and the town centre ambassadors in our community, working every day to bring people together and make things better

FESTIVAL OF THRIFT 2024
Slow Hand Creative Studio

"A fantastic first day back at the national festival of sustainability, Festival of Thrift , running our Japanese-inspired denim mending taster sessions!!
Thank you to all of you who came along to mend with us and who popped by to say hello.,we're excited for round 2 today!

Big thanks to Izzy HauntinglyHalloweave for assisting, and to Levi's (Eldon Square) for helping us meet our target of repurposed denim, saving us from purchasing new fabric and instead putting previously damaged garments to good use.

If you can't make it along today, or if you want a more in-depth session with exclusive Liberty remnant fabrics (swoons, we have a limited number of tickets left for our workshop next week with For the Love of the North !"

Patch With Pride Workshop. As part of the rescheduled Gateshead Town Centre focus of the first ever Pride in Gateshead, the gallery is open 12-4 for a drop-in workshop. Melanie Kyles of Slow Hand Creative Studio will give the opportunity to create your own unique colourful tapestry using reworked fabrics. This drop-in is recommended for anyone aged 12+ with other options available for younger creatives. All materials will be provided.
