Coventry, your leftovers are about to do something amazcning! ♻️

A new weekly food waste collection will be starting across the city week beginning 7 September. The service is being introduced as part of new government requirements for all councils in England to collect food waste separately.

Deliveries are are starting this week, and every household will receive a lockable caddy designed to reduce smells and keep out pests.

By using your food waste bin, you'll be:
Creating more room in your general waste or garden waste bin
Helping generate clean, renewable energy from food waste
Taking a simple step towards reducing food waste at home
Information about your collection day will be included with your caddy.

As part of the Heritage Open Days “History of everyday working lives” event, we are trying to gather memories and historical stories about Fillongley from previous residents.
I have sight of a newspaper cutting from 1993. It talks of a Jean Thorn, who inherited books of newspaper cuttings from her mother Ruby Foster. Ruby and her husband Frank ran the post office in Fillongley in the 1930s.
If Jean is still around and still has these books of cuttings, we would love to see them.
And if anyone else has links with Fillongley and has old stories to share, please let me know!
