What happens when design, manufacturing expertise, digital innovation, and strong industry partnerships come together to imagine the future?

That question is at the heart of Tebis NEXT40, our collaborative project with Pforzheim University and leading technology partners. Together, we are bringing a visionary spaceship concept to life, exploring what manufacturing might look like decades from now.

From the laboratory at its core to the wings and propulsion system, every element was created by design student Jan Kunzmann with a clear purpose and designed as part of a larger vision.

There is just one thing we are still keeping under wraps: the fully assembled spaceship. 😉

Want to see the final result?
Wait for our next video episode, or visit us at AMB - International exhibition for metal working, where the completed spaceship is now making its public debut.

Beyond the exhibit itself, we'll be showcasing how integrated digital processes, automation, and collaboration help manufacturers master complexity and build the future of production.

What turns a digital concept into a real component? ✨
As the hashtag journey reaches the manufacturing stage, ideas and simulations take shape in the real world. In this chapter, we visit Okuma Europe and follow the production of a complex engine assembly for our future spaceship.

Using advanced machining technologies, cutting tools from Ingersoll, and the combined expertise of our project partners, individual components are transformed into parts of a larger system. Every machining strategy, every tool, and every process step plays a role in turning complexity into precision.
This milestone shows that innovation is not only about great ideas. It is about collaboration, expertise, and flawless ex*****on.

The journey continues as more components of our showcase exhibit come to life.

What keeps complex projects on track? Behind every innovative idea lies careful planning. As the hashtag journey moves forward, coordinating tasks, resources, milestones, and project partners become just as important as design and manufacturing themselves.

From the first student concepts to detailed engineering and production preparation, every step must come together at the right time. This is where digital planning helps turn complexity into clarity and keeps the project moving toward its destination.

The next milestone is already waiting: manufacturing begins.

Tebis 4.1 Release 12: More Efficient NC Programming and Job Planning

Another focus of this release is on automating CAM programming and job planning processes. Rules can be used to automatically sort NCJobs. Programmers still enjoy flexibility when creating machining operations, but the order in which the operations are executed on the machine is optimised for the process with fewer tool changes and shorter machining times.
