Today marks 84 years since the founding of the remarkable Guinea Pig Club.

We remember this extraordinary group, their incredible legacy, and the spirit of courage and camaraderie they embodied.

Formed during the Second World War, the Guinea Pig Club was a unique fraternity of RAF aircrew who underwent pioneering plastic surgery after suffering burn injuries. Their stories are powerful testaments to human resilience – breaking barriers and changing lives.

They challenged the perception that disabilities were life-limiting and went on to mentor new generations of burn survivors.

First Point Decon Attends CPD-Accredited Study Day Hosted by Surgical Holdings.

First Point Decon was proud to attend the free study day hosted by Surgical Holdings at the DoubleTree by Hilton, Coventry.

The day began with an engaging presentation by Dan Coole, Managing Director of Surgical Holdings, who explored the history, composition, and applications of surgical instruments. This was followed by an insightful session on rigid endoscopes, delivered by Mark Pullen, who discussed their design, clinical use, and the importance of correct handling to prevent damage.

The final presentation, delivered by Nick Williams, focused on flexible endoscopes. Nick provided a thorough overview of their manufacturing processes, highlighted the risks associated with water ingress, and concluded with an excellent introduction to various endoscopy procedures.

Delegates also enjoyed a pleasant lunch and several valuable networking opportunities. The event was CPD-accredited, offering attendees 3 CPD points.
