How much can you afford to pay for a lead?
Most businesses cannot answer that, so every campaign gets judged on gut feel. Too expensive, too cheap, not sure. Usually not sure.
The answer comes from three numbers you already have. What a new customer is worth to you. How much of that you are willing to spend to win one. And how many leads it takes to get one customer.
Example: a customer worth £2,000, you are happy to spend a quarter of that to win them, and you convert one lead in five. That is £500 per customer and £100 per lead. Now every campaign has a pass mark.
Check for yourself: write down your three numbers on the back of an envelope. Five minutes, and it changes how you read every marketing report from here on.
Do you know your target cost per lead? If not, ask us. It is one of the first things we work through with a new client.
