A little restoration magic for HAWTHORNS ✨
Over the years, some elements of our process have changed, from the paints we use to the protective lacquer we apply, as we continually look for ways to improve durability and reduce fading and wear.
However, as with anything permanently displayed outdoors and exposed to sunshine, rain, frost and the changing seasons, some natural weathering should always be expected over time.
The owners of HAWTHORNS recently contacted us to see whether their plaque could be restored. Although the colours had faded, the sign itself had been kept beautifully clean and was in fantastic condition, making it an ideal candidate.
It was carefully sanded and resprayed before being completely repainted by our artist Joanne, bringing all of that gorgeous floral detail back to life. It was then finished with our upgraded 2K lacquer, which we introduced to our signs a few months ago to provide even greater protection and help them look their best for longer.
Unfortunately, not every older sign can be restored, it will depend on its overall condition and the type of wear or damage; but in a case like HAWTHORNS, there is absolutely no reason it cannot be given a new lease of life and enjoyed for many more years.
A little care can make a real difference too. If you live in a particularly hard-water area, we recommend cleaning your plaque gently and regularly. Mineral deposits can gradually build up and form a hard surface crust which becomes much more difficult, and sometimes impossible, to remove once established.
There will always be good reasons to choose a brand-new sign, but when a much-loved plaque can be beautifully restored like this one, we think the transformation speaks for itself
