When I get approached to look at a page - whether it’s for an audit or a new client - there are a few things I tend to notice pretty quickly…

And the thing is, it’s not just me noticing them!

• I can’t quite tell what the business does
• The bio isn’t very clear (or missing key info)
• There haven’t been any recent posts
• It feels very “salesy” with no personality behind it

None of these are massive issues on their own… but together, they can make it harder for someone to understand what you do and whether you’re the right fit for them.

It’s always worth stepping back and looking at your page as if you were seeing it for the first time - because that’s exactly what your audience is doing.

I've been getting a lot of questions about my not-so-favourite platform… LinkedIn!

So I thought I’d break it down and help you decide whether it’s actually a platform you should be on.

1. Should I be on LinkedIn? 💼
Maybe… it depends on your business.

If your audience is other businesses, decision-makers, or professionals - then yes, it can be a really strong platform.

But if your customers aren’t on there, or wouldn’t expect to find you there, it might not be the best place to focus your time.

2. Is it worth setting up a profile anyway? 🤔
Yes - having a presence is always a good idea.

Even if you’re not posting regularly, it gives people somewhere to find you and adds a bit of credibility.

Just don’t feel like you need to be super active straight away!

3. Does LinkedIn take much effort? ⏲️
It does.

To really get anywhere on LinkedIn, you need to show up consistently, engage with others, and share content that adds value.

It’s not a “set it and forget it” platform - it takes time to build momentum.

4. What should I actually be posting? 😟
You've got to think less polished, more personal.

Insights from your work, lessons learned, behind-the-scenes moments, and industry thoughts tend to do well.

You don’t need to overcomplicate it - just focus on sharing things that are useful or interesting to your audience.

LinkedIn can work really well, but only if it makes sense for your business and you’ve got the time to give it.

Do you know what’s been getting my goat lately?

Seeing other social media marketers telling people that what they’re doing is completely wrong. I saw a post on Instagram the other day that really wound me up… and it wasn’t the first.

I’m a big believer in just giving it a go - and if you’ve got some structure in place, whether that’s posting when your followers are online, spending a few minutes each day replying to comments, or setting aside a couple of hours a week to create content - you’re doing something right.

You don’t need everything to be perfect from the start. You build on it. You learn as you go.

I think what frustrates me is when people see those kinds of posts and start to feel like they’re doing it all wrong… when actually, they’ve already made a good start.

I want to apologise…

I’ve had a few people reach out asking when I’m going to start properly posting again, and it made me realise… I’m not practicing what I preach!!!

I’m in a really good position at the moment as a freelancer (I’m now in my fourth year, which I still can’t quite get my head around!), being at capacity with clients, but if I’m honest, I’ve been so focused on strategy for them that I’ve completely neglected my own pages! That will change… I pinky swear! 🙈

I’ll be sharing more hints, tips, and a few new blogs over the coming weeks, as I know a lot of you find them helpful.

I recently put together one of my newer client’s latest report, and WOW!

After I sent it over, they made my day with their response. It’s only been about five weeks of working together, but we’ve really nailed the content – and it definitely helps that we get on like a house on fire!

If you are scheduling content today, make sure you keep an eye on when Meta is scheduling it in for...It's adamant you want to send it out today rather than the actual date you select - it's tripped me up several times today so thought I'd pass it on! Good luck...
