J&G3 Ltd. is very proud to be based in Rutherglen. 🫶 Have a wee swatch and show some love for the best 900th celebration happening this year in Scotland! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

A quick recap of the "Ready, Steady, Network!" event hosted today by Lanarkshire Business Hub at New College Lanarkshire - it was our CEO Jennifer Payne's first event!

Jennifer said it was fascinating to hear a lifetime of insights of lived experiences in the travel industry from Shirley Saadi, Business Development Manager at Glen Travel in Blantyre, as well as life experiences from music to business to adventures in milk and family farming from Ross Neilson, Director at Park Farm Dairy in East Kilbride - which incidentally, also has a Gym!

Jennifer added huge thanks to Michelle Docherty and Stephen McKnight for organising - and to Jim Fagan for twisting her arm to attend in the first place. 😉

As a marketing consultancy business based in Rutherglen, Jennifer Payne Marketing powered by J&G3 is already looking forward to the event planned for next month, with a focus on Lanarkshire Women in Business, aligning with International Women's Day - to be held at Hamilton Park Racecourse.

Start-ups and sole traders often worry what their friends will think of their social media.

We get it - it’s hard building something on your own.

When our CEO Jennifer Payne hears a new business describe this - she always has soooo many questions…but usually asks first: “Are they your ideal customer?”

Why not shift your time and effort into the actions you can actually control?

Try this quick sanity check:
1️⃣ Does your post make sense to your ideal customer? (Would they get it?)
2️⃣ Is it clear what to do next? (👉 comment, ask a question, tag, share, buy, book, click?)
3️⃣ Are you showing what makes your product or solution different - not just what you do?

That’s the kind of self-reflection that will move your business forward on social media…not worrying about what others *might* think of your grid.

Are you guilty of this? You’re not alone…let’s talk about it in the comments! 👇

Rutherglen 900 celebrations kicked off in style last week, and half the crew from J&G3 were lucky enough to be at the Rutherglen Town Hall...pure hundreds were on the waiting list. 👀

The incredible children’s choir singing their hearts out truly set the scene for the new Ruglin mascot 'Dougie the Pigeon' to dance across the stage like he owned it...the whole launch was pure joy.

Huge congratulations to the Board of Rutherglen 900, all the volunteers and production crew, and the photographer and videographers...you all did everyone very proud. And the party has just begun...we have a whole year to celebrate together!

The charity Refuweegee says, "We're all fae somewhere."

As a small woman-led marketing consultancy that delivers globally, we’re proud to call Rutherglen home - a place that’s been making its mark through courage, community and creativity for 900 years (and counting).

Tag a local you’re proud of, and let’s celebrate 900 years of Rutherglen together! 👇

What a morning! 🙌 North Lanarkshire’s makers, crafters & artisans brought the energy - the first ever “Craft & Click” social media workshop was chock full of ideas, laughter, and “aha!” moments in the new Makerspace in the heart of Cumbernauld.

From strategy chats to a practical approach to content creation, everyone left ready to make their socials click.

Huge shout out to Shona Wilson who leads on the Creative Industries Sector (amongst other things) at Business North Lanarkshire & North Lanarkshire Council, Advisor James Falls of Business Gateway - and the entire staff at Cumbernauld Library with North Lanarkshire Libraries.

This is what Scotland’s public sector is all about: working together & driving local growth through creativity, collaboration, and innovation.

Our Founder & CEO Jennifer Payne is still totally buzzin’…if you didn’t get a chance to ask a question, please feel free to do so in the comments and join the conversation! 🎉

When is the last time you popped the hood and looked at your business page social profiles (from the customer’s point of view!) to check what’s working & fix what’s not?

Director of J&G3, Jennifer Payne, undertakes a social media tune-up, or MOT, with every client, no matter how big or small the business is.

(Not heard of an MOT? MOT stands for the Ministry of Transport, the government department that introduced a UK standard in 1960 as a means of testing vehicle safety, exhaust emissions, and roadworthiness - similar to a tune-up in the U.S.A.)

Jennifer says: “Your social media needs an MOT now and then to refresh, refine, and get it ready for the road ahead.”

Remember that optimising your profile isn’t about doing more - it’s about making what you’ve already got work better.

Top tip: add your location into your bio, even if you’ve said where your business is located elsewhere in your profile. This small change will put you on the map for SEO - and help drive customers to find you!

What are your questions about your social media profile? Ask in the comments! 👇

Before you dive back in next week, take 10 minutes to look at what actually worked for your business this year in your Insights and Analytics.

First, make the data BIG and adjust the date to show the entire calendar year.

On Facebook & Instagram, concentrate on Interactions: which posts got the highest engagement?

On LinkedIn, concentrate on Engagement Rate: what got people to interact with your posts?

Keep the good, drop the rest.

As you begin 2026, make a resolution to take a data-centric approach to your social media...it's not what you think, or what the CEO thinks, or what you think your customers think - it's what the data actually shows you that provides you with a solid foundation to build upon!

Ask your questions about social media data and analytics in the comments.

“Social media isn’t about selling…it’s about two-way conversation.” - Jennifer Payne, CEO of J&G3

What do you want your customers to do after they see your post on social media?

(Here’s our answer: you want them to ENGAGE with the post.)

Try giving one “call to action” per post (instead of all of your contact information) and see what happens - hint: your interactions will go up!

A few examples:

👉 Ask your questions in the comments!
👉 Comment below if this sounds familiar…
👉 Tag the first friend who pops into your head.
👉 Double-tap if this helped.
👉 Share this with your bestie.

Read that last part again (👆) and take an action to boost the signal! 😉
