10 Hours in London
Last week I spent 10 hours in London, mainly in the Notting Hill area. These are a selection of photos that I took on the day.
As always when I go to London, I parked outside Golders Green Crematorium which allows me to spend a little time with Marc before heading towards the tube station. Like a lot of Marc Bolan fans, the Crem has become an important part of my life.
After meeting up with my brother, I took him on a mini-tour tour of Notting Hill before ending up at 57 Blenheim Crescent, the address that Marc lived at in the pre-fame days. Although I had been there several times before, this time I had the good fortune that someone was going into the house which is a series of flats. Not one to miss an opportunity, I politely asked if I could have a look in the house and the woman let me in. I only got to see the hallway and stairs but it was strange to think that Marc and June had lived there.
We then had a wander around the area and, attracted in by the wonderful black and white wall painting, I found a lovely oasis of calm at Codrington Mews. From there we went to the famous blue door entrance and Notting Hill Bookshop used in that wonderful film, both of which were busy with tourists.
After the walk, we then went to the Museum of Brands which describes itself as 'a nostalgic journey through 200 years of consumer culture'. A very interesting place stuffed full of examples of packaging and advertising with the most interesting for me being their collection of World Cup memorabilia from 1966.
I love taking photos in tube stations as there are so many photo opportunities with people moving from one place to another. On the way to Notting Hill I had passed through Baker Street station so decided to call off there on the way back. I have taken photos there once or twice before so this time I simply found a place to sit down and take photos across the track.
It was a lovely day out I managed to get some decent photos as well.
