Overwhelm is a real thing - and it can cause you to take 1 step forward and 2 steps back if you don’t learn to manage it. And I know - because overwhelm has threatened to envelope me in its poisonous mist on several occasions, curling insidiously around me until I can no longer think straight. If I think too much about my ever growing to-do list I sometimes feel that little seed of panic festering in my stomach, waiting to grow like a poisoned ivy and consume every part of me.
But what I’ve learned is that every entrepreneur needs an active list and you should never clear it completely. As you tick one item off, add a new one at the bottom - because if you have nothing on your list, your business, your job or your life is not growing and developing.
So now I enjoy the fulfilment of crossing off a job done well but I also feel excited when I add a new task. It means I’m moving forward and my business isn’t stagnant.
And ok, I’m only human - if the list is too long it can be daunting still and I have to work hard to squash that little seed of overwhelm from developing. How do I do that? By focusing on one task at a time and not letting myself be distracted. It’s one of the most important skills to learn.

One of the biggest challenges for me has been realising that sometimes I need help. I can’t say I’ve always asked for help (that stubborn streak!) and I can’t say that going it alone doesn’t work - I’ve done it many a time and achieved my goals, but I could have got there quicker with less blood, sweat and tears if I had asked for guidance. And yes, I’ve learnt valuable lessons along the way but we all occasionally need a shoulder to lean on, don’t we?

When you are young, trust comes easily. As we grow older and gather scars, we are much more suspicious of things we don't understand or people we don't know. When you sit astride a horse for the first time, you trust you don't get bucked off. Your horse trusts this weight on his back, even though it's screaming predator at him. Because you have slowly and gradually learnt to trust each other. Working wiht a business partner is no different - you need time to build that bond. But if you never reach out and start that journey, you will never get to experience the joy of partnership, the wonder of that first trot, or the buzz of achieving success in your business because you learnt to listen to your partner. Be the best you can - learn to trust.

THURSDAY THOUGHTS:
Did you know? Horses have a unique digestive system that requires them to graze and eat small, frequent meals throughout the day. Unlike humans, horses cannot vomit, and their stomachs produce acid constantly. This means that prolonged periods without food can lead to digestive issues such as ulcers or colic. Providing horses with regular access to forage, such as hay or pasture, is essential for their overall health and well-being. Understanding and meeting their dietary needs is a fundamental aspect of responsible horse care within the equine business.
