Government guidelines require that EPC assessors only carry out surveys on unoccupied properties during the lockdown. Anybody who requires an EPC for letting purposes and have made arrangements through us will get a letter as supporting evidence that an EPC was ordered and the survey appointment was put on hold until Covid-19 restrictions are lifted if required.

New MEES regulations for landlords comes in to force April 1st 2018 for new tenancy agreements or renewals. Minimum EPC rating of E required to let both domestic and commercial properties. All rented properties will require an E rating (even if tenant is on a long lease) by April 1st 2020 to be legal.

Some grey areas coming up with regards exemptions for EPCs on listed buildings. All bought about because of the new MEES (Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards) coming on to force next April. Leaving a grey area is another way of passing the buck.

Reminder to all landlords that rented properties have to have an EPC rating of E or better for new or lease renewals from April 1st 2018 - only 5 months away.
