The business awards we run across Dorset into Hampshire and Somerset celebrate local business success but they also give businesses a chance to come along enjoy the awards and meet new contacts. That in turn offers the chance for new business - we've had solicitors giving mortgage brokers work, a wedding venue getting booked, legal firms being consulted, printers getting jobs and probably loads more that we dont know about!

The awards are not just about the winning - they offer a chance for businesses to meet each other and thats the way you get to build relationships with potential new clients. Only yesterday we had a call from an accountant, who sponsors several awards, asking for details of a mortgage broker he had met at one of the ceremonies as he wanted to offer her some business and its doubtful their paths would have crossed otherwise.

We remember at one of the awards a few years ago a sponsor said 'Today I found out about two businesses that I didnt know were in town. I am so surprised but pleased and I'll be using them personally'
That's what the awards are about introducing people to businesses so as well as celebrating the winners we want people to meet new contacts and take the opportunity to network with other business people.

So a few figures since the awards started 7 years ago - we have had (approximately) 90 ceremonies, 2,500 winners, 16500 entries and over 6,200 attendees. Another fantastic celebration of local business achievement at yesterdays awards ceremony when we brought together the Shaftesbury finalists and the Gilligham ones as well in a 'double-header' awards ceremony. It was a unanimous👍for the joint event.
The good news is that as the awards have grown and expanded so much in the last five years there have been times when we have had to juggle the awards meaning in some areas they were 15 months apart and in others ten to eleven but now they will be on or around the same dates they happened in 2026 i.e. that same month every year.
This means we will be able to get all the 2026 winners into our regional Gold Awards i.e. BCP Awards, North Dorset, West Dorset and East Dorset and that will be in January the following year every year going forward when the winners announcements will be live streamed. More on that this summer.
