My latest design and typesetting job was another fascinating insight into the golden age of Polar exploration, this time featuring the only two existing known diaries of Frank Wild, Shackleton’s ‘right hand man’. He was one of only two men, along with Ernest Joyce, to earn the Polar Medal with four clasps. As well as Shackleton, Wild also served under the British Empire’s other greats - Robert Falcon Scott and Douglas Mawson. He was awarded the CBE in the New Years Honours List of 1920.

Page samples from ‘Lost… The Artarctic Diary of Thomas Orde Lees’, which I co-designed for Erskine Press with Esme Power. Orde Lees was part of Shackleton’s ill-fated Antarctic expedition team, and the only member to keep a full diary. The book is a fascinating read and was a pleasure to work on.
