April has been full of exciting adventures, fun and meaningful learning. We made the most of the outdoors with forest walks, park visits, scavenger hunts, picnics and exploring nature while looking for tadpoles and frogs, helping the children develop curiosity and understanding of the natural world. Trips to the zoo, museums, science centre and even a train ride supported real-life learning and sparked lots of conversations. Social experiences at playgroups, soft play, playing games and visiting the library and time spent with friends helped build confidence, communication and friendships. Creative activities such as arts and crafts, construction, planting bulbs and imaginative role play encouraged creativity and independence, while sand, water and free play supported problem-solving and exploration. We also enjoyed stories, singing and learning about our bodies and dental health, supporting language and wellbeing. A special highlight was opening our Easter box from our pen pals, helping the children feel connected to others and understand the wider world — all while having lots of fun learning through play.

March has been full of fun, adventure and rich learning experiences. We enjoyed walks, trips to museums, the zoo, parks and our community garden, helping the children explore the world around them and build confidence. Water play, sand play and mark making supported creativity and early writing skills, while imaginative play, pirate-themed adventures and dressing up for World Book Day encouraged storytelling and language development. Physical activities such as football, climbing, running, jumping and learning to cross roads safely helped develop coordination, awareness and independence. We loved socialising with other childminders and friends at playgroups, libraries and soft play, building friendships and social skills. Seasonal activities including Easter crafts, decorating eggs, celebrating Mother’s Day and sending gifts to our pen pals supported creativity, kindness and an understanding of community. From frog spotting and forest exploring to picnics and puddle jumping, the children have been learning, growing and having lots of fun through play.

February has been filled with fun, laughter and lots of exciting learning experiences. We enjoyed visits to museums, imaginative play centres, farms and pet shops where we saw hamsters, rabbits, guinea pigs and fish, helping the children learn about caring for animals and the world around them. Imaginative and role play, sensory play, soft play and jigsaws supported creativity, problem-solving and social skills. Our woodland walks, bark rubbing and puddle splashing encouraged curiosity and physical development. Through arts and crafts, sewing, making pancakes for Shrove Tuesday and creating and posting Valentine’s cards to our pen pals in Wales and England, the children developed fine motor skills, early literacy and an understanding of community and the wider world — with great excitement when we received letters and gifts from England and Italy! Music, singing, stories and playgroups continued to build confidence, language and friendships, all through happy, meaningful play.

January has been full of fun, curiosity and busy learning experiences. The children enjoyed playgroups, library visits, cafes, museums and trips to the science centre, supporting confidence, social skills and real-life learning. Through stories, singing, Scottish songs and poems, including celebrating Burns Day with our intergenerational friends at Turiff House, the children developed language, listening skills and a sense of community and culture. STEM activities such as water play, sand play, exploring textures, investigating ice and magnetic forces encouraged curiosity, problem-solving and early scientific thinking. Outdoor adventures including woodland walks, running, jumping, climbing and trampolining supported physical development and coordination. Creative activities such as baking, drawing, painting, playdough and Lego helped to strengthen fine motor skills, early mark making, colour recognition and counting — all while having lots of fun learning through play.
