And just like that…4 years go by!

Aniseed Creative hits its 4th birthday. It’s unreal how fast that time has gone by. And so grateful to be having our busiest summer yet.

Some lessons I have learned over the past four years:

1. Planning is key - thankfully I have an amazing accountability and partner in crime in . We have a regular Monday meeting to discuss both of our businesses weekly plans. We also have a quarterly planning day that sets us on the right track for the following months. It also keeps us in check when needed. This has been invaluable.
2. Think about 6 months ahead - while busyness is all involving, I learned the hard way to ensure the workflow continues months in advance and planning for that.
3. Using software like Notion to keep all business, project and client information in one place has been so helpful. Keeping organised and easily accessible to help things run smoothly and keep track.
4. Fear helps noone. It also leads to procrastination and subsequently productivity gets the brunt of that. I have a tendency to overthink, like many creatives, however sometimes it just needs to get done.
5. Routine is everything. Working from home can be challenging, having a routine is key to ensuring you best plan your days.
6. Your network is ‘chefs kiss’. I’m so lucky and grateful for my network ‘team’. I have done a lot of varying networking over the four years and from that I’ve not only got some great clients and projects, I have also managed to find some amazing friends and team mates.

As always, a massive thanks to all my clients, friends and family for allowing this to happen.

Here’s to the next four years! A little glass of something later to celebrate I think. Happy Friday everyone.

Pure Plants is a Hexham-based plant supplier, and founder Julie Barugh has a very clear mission – to provide peat-free and sustainable plants that is guilt free to enjoy.

Peat is the single biggest store of carbon in the UK, capturing 20 years of all UK CO2 emissions, and most importantly keeping it out of our atmosphere. Peatlands store nearly 550bn tonnes of carbon – twice as much as the world’s forests. Extracting peat releases stored carbon back into the atmosphere, which accelerates climate change. The UN states that protecting peatlands is potentially one of the quickest wins in the fight against climate change.

Having previously worked on a moorland reserve with peat bogs, Julie had first-hand experience of the importance in maintaining and preserving this unique habitat. Sadly, most houseplants sold in the UK are still grown in peat. It is why Pure Plants’ beautiful houseplants are raised in a sustainable coir-based compost, using sustainable pot options.

With such a great mission, it was exciting to help promote Julie’s message through her brand development and promotional merchandise, to be displayed at fayre’s, fete’s, markets, and festivals.

The logomark was already established, however was tweaked to incorporate the new font Branch, which worked so well across the typography. The linked letters captured the movement of seedling growth. The colours were predominantly a range of greens originally, so we introduced a range of complimentary colours after researching peatlands, pulling out browns and in particular a dark wine that really enhanced the green range. The outcome is soothing and classic and works well across the merchandise as well as the print.
