Some news I’m really proud to share 🥳

I’ve been appointed an ambassador for Womens Fund Scotland 🙏

Part of my role will be championing their fundraising movement 🙌

Women’s Fund Scotland supports organisations creating safe spaces for those experiencing trauma and abuse, tackling poverty and inequality, helping girls build confidence and reducing isolation.

The headlines have been hard to read lately, and I’ve felt powerless.

Now I can use my voice, community and platform to make a difference to women and girls in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Proud to be taking this role on, proud and honoured!

And excited about what we can achieve ❤️

So good to meet Dr Louise Newson Dr Louise Newson today 🙌

The timing felt so poignant, the request to host this interview coming just a few days after I shared my hormonal story.

I was heartbroken to read comments from women going through the same, many going through much worse

Which is why Louise’s work, and her new book, is so vital.

We need to advocate for ourselves, and our girls.

Lovely to meet you Louise, and your daughter Lucy too, she clearly thought your talk was as wonderful as we did! ☺️

How lucky I am to have had the chance to speak to .hoy not once, but twice 🙏

One again she spoke so eloquently, Sarra has this incredible ability to make you pause, breathe, to reflect what really matters.

“Choose how you respond…and when you feel overwhelmed, stop trying to predict the future. Get back to the here and now, what’s now and what’s next.”

We can’t control the outcome, only the process. We can’t know what’s coming next, but we can choose how we live today.

Afterwards I met her very dapper Dad who reminded me so much of mine - what a gent ❤️

If you haven’t watched Cancer, Courage and Me on BBC iPlayer, I can’t recommend it enough, it’s honest, hopeful and moving.

Sarra & Chris’s Tour de 4 raised £3.2m last year, it’s happening again on Sunday 6th September in Glasgow 🚲 go check it out, the most amazing community.

Almost 10 years running the egg Facebook group, it was time for my first rant!

I’ve upset watching my daughter battle with her periods, made me angry than in the 40 years since I started mine, and the ensuing decades of pain and blood, that nothing seems to have moved forward for women’s gynaecological health.

Getting that post out felt bloody good, pardon the pun.

Some great advice which I wanted to share with you.

Something very serendipitous happened just after I posted this, will share with you soon.

Vikki was a good egg, a member of our community, she posted regularly about her beauty business.

Last night she was killed in her home.

There are no words to describe how horrific this incident is, and the trail of devastation it has left.

Nearly half of women killed in Scotland are killed by a partner or ex-partner, and 89% of domestic abuse happens inside the home, the place we’re supposed to feel safest.

Police Scotland recorded over 66,000 domestic abuse incidents last year, and campaigners say that’s still only the visible part of it.

If any of this feels close to home, if you’re scared, or something doesn’t sit right, reach out.

My proudest achievement over the last 10 years is that my daughter believes every woman runs her own business.

Some of her earliest memories are of egg & co on George St, where she got stuck in to the DIY from day one 🖌️

She was immersed in the pop up every weekend, surrounded by amazing women running incredible businesses.

Four years on, she’s still creative and talks about becoming a graphic designer (in between wanting to run a nail bar and being a barista 😅)

She still talks about this space, and the people who filled it.

What a bloody awesome memory for a young girl to have.

The space may not have been there long, but its legacy remains..

As does its impact on this little girl 👧 ❤️

And for me, that’s everything.
