Our must-have Shopify apps!👇🏻

Whether you’re looking to streamline operations, enhance customer experience or increase your marketing options, chances are there’s a Shopify app for that. However, with over 8,000 available on the platform, it can be difficult to choose the best ones for your business. To help you out, we’ve made a list of our top 5 must-have apps, with some of the key features included. These apps offer flexibility and out-of-the-box functionality for any store on Shopify!

1. Shopify Search & Discovery 🔎

Shopify's Search and Discovery app allows product filters based on the attributes of the products in your store. It provides product recommendations using sales data to suggest related and complementary items, and merchants can showcase products that pair well with current selections. Additionally, the app improves site search with more accurate and relevant results, making it easier for customers to find what they're looking for.

2. Instafeed 📸

The Instafeed app allows merchants to display custom shoppable Instagram Feeds on your store. The app provides a solid connection to an Instagram account, allowing sellers to display curated posts on the store’s homepage, product pages, or any other section of the website. Users can also customise the appearance of the feed to match the branding of their store.

3. Shopify Flow 🪢

Shopify Flow allows for automations across the store, with options to tag customers and orders based on specific criteria. Automated emails can also be triggered by various different events and conditions, such as order completion and cart abandonment.

4. Klaviyo 📧

Klaviyo offers easy integration with Shopify and provides fully customisable emails and contact forms. It supports email automation, builds customer segments and lists, and integrates with most review platforms, allowing merchants to engage and manage their customer base effectively.

5. Pandectes 🍪

As a fully compliant GDPR cookie bar, Pandectes allows for an automatically updated list of stored cookies to be displayed on cookie pages. There are also several customisation options to ensure that the cookie bar aligns with your brand style and identity.

What apps are you using on Shopify and how are they benefiting your ecommerce business? Let us know in the comments!

Meet the Team! 🌟

We’re excited to bring back our "Meet the Team" series, where you get to know the incredible people behind Digital Six. This month we have Sean, our frontend developer. He works across a variety of different projects from Shopify sites, to headless PWA's and more!

👨🏼‍💻 What was your first job?

My first job was working as a seasonal customer service desk assistant at a local Tesco's in Fraserburgh. I believe I was 16 or 17 at the time and while I enjoyed the job I was terrible at it, I'm pretty sure they were very glad to be shot of me when my seasonal contract was up!

📱What do you enjoy about your role at D6?

I love learning, there is so much to learn in development, lots of new technologies, frameworks and apps and it's great to get hands on experience working with these. I also love that I get to craft beautiful designs into working sites and apps that thousands of users will interact with. It's rewarding to bring the sites to life!

🤖 What are you excited for in the future of ecommerce?

I'm excited to see how tech stacks and frameworks will improve over the years and how that will impact ecommerce. I feel like we are already at a great place with technologies such as NextJS. It's well built and widely used with even BigCommerce choosing to build its new headless storefront catalyst on it. It will be interesting to see how they progress and improve. I'm also really excited to see how AI advances and how that will benefit development. I already use Microsofts co-pilot almost daily and it's a huge benefit to my development workflow providing accurate and helpful suggestions, debugs and code snippets.

🥾 What do you like doing outside of work?

I love getting outdoors, hiking in the cairngorms and occasionally the lake district, I also love going for long walks in the local country side. I also enjoy playing the odd video game and definitely binge watch the odd series or two every now and then.

Is your ecommerce business ready for the European Accessibility Act? 🌐

With the deadline approaching in June 2025, it's crucial for online businesses trading in the EU to ensure accessibility for all, including individuals with disabilities. Compliance with the EAA is more than just legal requirement, it presents a valuable opportunity to enhance user experience for everyone.

Here's some of the things you business can do to prepare:

🔉Check eligibility: If your business trades in the EU, you must comply with the EAA.

🔉Conduct an accessibility audit: Identify gaps and align with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).

🔉Update your site: Prioritise and implement the necessary changes.

🔉Ongoing improvements: Regularly assess and update your content to stay compliant.

With less than a year remaining, businesses should begin preparing for compliance as soon as possible. Digital Six can provide an accessibility review to help you identify key areas for improvement and provide you with a clear, actionable plan to ensure your site is ready for compliance. For more information on our ecommerce design services to support your site updates, visit our website today.

💬 Just got back from DevTalks Romania, and wow, what an experience!

DevTalks is the biggest and most impactful gathering of developers and IT professionals in Romania, and I had the pleasure of diving into this vibrant community. With over 60,000 tech enthusiasts from around the globe, it's no wonder this event is a beacon of innovation and collaboration.

Here's what made my first big tech event absolutely jaw-dropping:

1. Top-Notch Speakers: I spent most of my time at the web development stage, absorbing the latest trends and innovations. But the diversity of the event was astounding, featuring 13 stages with speakers from giants like Intel, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Github, Goole, EA Games, Deutsche Bank, Revolut and many more.

2. Activities and Relaxation Zones: From foosball tables to remote-controlled robots playing football, and cozy bin bag lounges where you could chill and play FIFA—there was something for everyone to unwind and have fun.

3. Innovations: Beyond software, I got to sponsor students crowdfunding the first open-source nanosatellite set for a 2026 launch and chatted with scientists operating the world's most powerful laser at Magurele. Mind-blowing stuff!

4. Highlight Session: Kenneth Rohde Christiansen from Intel delivered an electrifying session on future web dev trends and the upcoming NPU (Neural Processing Unit). Imagine running LLMs like ChatGPT locally! This innovation will revolutionise web applications, making them more powerful and efficient.

🎯 Overall Impressions: Describing this two-day event in a few words is tough, but it was by far the best conference I've ever attended. Being at the heart of innovation and networking with like-minded individuals was incredibly inspiring.

🌟 Memorable Moments: Though exhausting, every moment was worth it. I connected with brilliant minds in the field and discovered ingenious e-commerce solutions that promise to enhance our future clients' experiences. Can't wait to do it all over again next year! 💬
