From the power of storytelling in disrupting a category to the art of selling in China, yesterday’s Ecommerce Insider dinner in Glasgow provided a feast of ecommerce insight.

We were delighted to partner with Boyd Digital for this event, which was hosted by Gary Singh Landa, Alistair Macneil and Grant Ruxton and attended by some of Scotland’s finest ecommerce minds.

It’s World Password Day – a good reminder to make sure your password strategy is keeping your ecommerce platform properly protected:

🔑 Make sure every user sets a unique password
🔏 Set a minimum length for admin passwords – the more characters a password has, the longer it will take a third party to crack (even if the shorter one is more complicated)
📆 Set passwords to expire every 6-8 weeks
🔐 Make two-factor authentication mandatory

Together, Gary, Alistair and Osvaldo led an evening of ecommerce discovery on the 40th floor of Heron Tower – with some equally high-flying guests.

The topic that split the room: is Magento + headless the way forward?

Magento is undoubtedly the best platform in the world at managing complex requirements, inventory, promotions, tax and multiple stores. But for a lot of retailers, its frontend experience leaves a lot to be desired. As a result, increasing numbers are turning to the likes of Vue Storefront to bridge the gap.
