Why bother trying to get press coverage? It doesn't work, right!?

Think again...

This scientific study published in March 2021 analysed the relation between a company‘s visibility in the press and stock returns of U.S. firms ranging from 1924 to 2019.

Researchers Michael Ungeheuer and Alexander Hillert found that brands with persistently higher levels of media visibility, including press, exhibited predictably higher returns, higher sales and profitability growth.

Seems like a good enough reason to get noticed!

Composite pipe manufacturer Magma Global needed to be seen as an established leader rather than a new technology in order to appeal to the risk averse oil & gas industry.

We worked closely with the CEO and COO on repositioning the brand with new messaging. A new strapline of “SIMPLIFY” communicated Magma’s overarching purpose.

The communication strategy focused on using customer stories to better establish Magma’s track record and communicate the value through real life projects.

A new website created a more modern look and feel and gave the impression of a much bigger brand. A corporate video to deliver powerful messages in a visual format completed the new assets and was shared across the industry to great effect.

Magma wanted to increase awareness in Brazil to demonstrate its composite solution to a major corrosion challenge. We travelled to Rio to meet people and better understand the market. While we were there took the local VP on a Brazilian press tour. An exclusive corporate event in partnership with an energy trade magazine helped cement strong relationships.

Magma’s composite technology is now accepted as “qualified” and Brazil’s main oil operator, Petrobras, has gone on record to declare that composites are their preferred solution. Magma is now working closely with Petrobras.

LinkedIn engagement improved from 7% to 41% through strong visuals to carry the messages.

The largest provider of talking therapy services to the NHS, Ieso Digital Health wanted to raise its profile across the disparate NHS market; and we couldn't be happier with the results.

We ran a B2B messaging workshop to find the differentiators and hero messages. We audited Ieso’s content assets to discover what was missing from the brand story and then mapped content to the different stages of a customer journey.

We proactively hunted thought leadership, case study and news angles throughout Ieso by building relationships with sales, science, data teams and therapists. This company-wide insight gave us the ability to create powerful stories that connected the business to the therapists and the patients. We then created content to appeal to customers and target the press.

Using the content and stories we generated, we were able to pitch for news and features across B2B, national and consumer press. In just six months this generated over 100 published pieces.

A fantastic example of a purposeful brand campaign.

The 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26) began on Sunday 31st October and this stunt from Co-op seems wholly authentic and very on-brand with everything the company stands for.

Co-op has rebranded to ‘Co-op26’ across its social channels as well as three of its Glasgow stores where this year's COP26 is being held, to ‘Co-op26’ in a clever way to engage its customers with the climate change conversation.

The brand has also implemented in-store prompts, with tips for shoppers on how to live more sustainably.

Co-op, we applaud you.

Be cautious before you start playing with brand codes. You must have a well established visual identity so that audiences will recognise it and notice the change.
