Ever notice how the smallest places can leave the biggest mark?

There’s a wee village not far from me 'The Little Shop of Everything' — part post office, part time capsule, and completely full of heart. The lady behind the counter always has time for a chat, and every visit feels like stepping back to when life moved slower.

It got me thinking… spots like this, and the communities around them, are what make visitors fall in love with a place. Not always the big attractions, but the people, the welcome, the slower moments.

Maybe it’s time we celebrated these little gems more — they’re what make Ireland truly special.

Working on regenerative tourism projects is always highly satisfying. Just a few weeks ago, we facilitated a regenerative tourism workshop with Lemanaghan Bog Community Group in Co. Offaly.

For those of you who have experienced that trauma of summers in the bog, midge bites, cold tea and sun burnt shoulders, you’ll understand that when we started looking at this project, we had to dig deep to find an angle that visitors would find interesting or maybe not! Our bog landscape is …PRECIOUS, UNIQUE, SOULFUL, MINDFUL AND CLEAN and is now thankfully being recognised through the EU Just Transition Fund as a worthy landscape to support and softly develop.

As it turns out, Lemanaghan Bog is a pretty special place, I’ve been reliably informed by Ellen O’Connor archaeologist that in this part of Ireland more than 40 historical artefacts have been discovered, from a stone age hammer to weapons dating back to the early 1920’s, an 11th Century Crozier, a neolithic flint scraper and 13th century coins are amongst the many items found.

The Lemanaghan Bog Community Group have an unfailing passion for their place and have enthusiastically taken on board our recommendations, working with us to start developing a visitor experience that will add to the reason why you should visit this part of Offaly.

At think6 we are as passionate about internal communications as we are about how a business attracts customers, builds brand awareness or reinforces their position in the market place.

Earlier this year, we were only too delighted when we were approached to plan and organise a business conference for Trace First who brought their USA based team to meet their Irish based colleagues. The brief was specific: above all else, "ensure our team gets the opportunity to network and build connections."

On departure, our client said, "a huge thank you. The meticulous planning, creative thought and original approach to what might have otherwise been just another company meeting, achieved more than we hoped.

As our business has multiple locations across the United States and Ireland, we believe this event built new, and strengthened existing, connections which we know will have a positive impact on the business and help us on our mission to provide outstanding service to our customers."

A word of thanks to Farnham Estate, Peoples Restaurant, The Keepers Arms, Floods Coaches and McGovern Transport who helped make this more than just a conference.

⛳️ARE YOU A GOLFER? ⛳️

The team at Cancer Focus NI are busy preparing and planning the opening of a new Well-Being Centre in Enniskillen. Did I say its the first one in Northern Ireland? Well just to remind you, its the first one in Northern Ireland and we are delighted it will be in Enniskillen.

So that got me thinking about their up and coming golf day. It would be amazing to see golfers from the West attending this event. It would be a clear demonstration of our local support and enthusiasm regarding this new Well Being Service.
