It was good to see Congarinni Vale at today, and sample some of the products they have made using local Australian bush food on their 27 acre farm.

It would be good to find ways for people to experience places like that through a farm stay, or perhaps through woofing or simply a farm sit. This is the kind of thing that The Eco-Enabler Alliance (TEA) is keen to help enable through its travel club initiative, which we are in the process of putting the platform in place as well as seeking help from the likes of Congarinni Vale to provide practical working examples as well as help build the community.

Dr. Luby Simson is going further than that for enabling Sustainability though, because she is leading thoughts and action on it through her work with - and is representative of the people we would like to bring over to the UK to find synergy and points of exchange with councils here. We are looking forward to talking more with Luby and seeing what we can do together.

thank you for everything you have done to date to encourage sustainability and provide working examples of it. We look forward to talking more in coming weeks, and seeing what we can do between UK and Australia to get more happening.

True

Every spring, millions of baby birds are “rescued” by people.

Most of them don’t need rescuing.

Fledglings vs. Nestlings — know the difference

1️⃣ FLEDGLING (LEAVE IT ALONE)

- Has feathers (even if fluffy or messy)
- Can hop, walk, or flutter
- Eyes are open
- Short or stubby tail
- Parents are nearby, feeding it frequently (often every 15–30 minutes)

👉 This is normal.
Fledglings leave the nest before they can fly well and spend several days on the ground learning.

2️⃣ NESTLING (NEEDS HELP)

- Few or no feathers
- Eyes may be closed
- Cannot hop or stand

👉 What to do:

- If you can find the nest: put it back
- No nest? Contact a wildlife rehabilitator

❗ The “human scent” myth is false — most birds have a very weak sense of smell and will not abandon their young because of you.

⚠️ The Most Common Mistake

Someone sees a baby bird on the ground.
Assumes it fell.
Takes it inside.

Meanwhile, the parents are nearby — watching, waiting, and searching.

Now the chick is separated.
And its chances of survival drop significantly, because humans can’t replicate what its parents provide.

👉 The #1 reason baby birds end up in rehab?
Well-meaning people taking them unnecessarily.

Most of these birds would have been fine.
On the ground.
Being fed.
By parents who were right there.

🚨 If a fledgling is in danger (cats, roads):

- Gently move it to a nearby bush or sheltered spot
- Keep it within about 15 meters (50 feet)
- Parents will find it by its calls

🆘 If it’s truly orphaned or injured:

- Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitator

💡 The best thing you can do?

Walk away.

Its parents are watching.
And they’re waiting for you to leave.

Don't mean to bug ya, but what more could be shared about this bug, and where it lives as well as what it lives on? We look forward to hearing from you!

It's great seeing people like Claudia Cordova post pictures of insects where they are staying or living.

How much can we learn from observing Nature, and understanding what allows creatures to survive in the habitat they find themselves in, and maybe evolve?

There's the good, of course, where they and other life co-exists with them for support in some way (aka symbiosis).

Then there is the bad, too, because maybe they are food for other life, or that other life competes with them for what they rely on for food or shelter.

Thank you, Claudia, for sharing such posts. We look forward to learning more about this and other pretty bugs around you - but maybe the not-so pretty ones too?

ThIs is what a real farm shop looks like. Truly personable, thanks to Debbie and Tom caring so much about what's grown or made locally (including what grown right there), as well as sustainable too because it is grown organically and fits in with the ecosystems work down there in the New Forest.

The Victorians had the right idea, but was it just an economic one like ironically made out on this information board in Lloyd Park, Walthamstow E17?

Certainly Sir William Morris saw it more from the value of a thing of beauty shared, and what he could do to stimulate people to create.

His thinking was that creation not be all for monetary or even material gain, but for appreciation of beauty and a much more treasured way of life.

Vive La France!

🇫🇷💨 France is reimagining wind power — no blades, no noise, no moving parts.

On a breezy hill in Normandy, engineers have developed a bladeless wind turbine that silently vibrates to generate electricity. Called a vortex wind generator, it ditches spinning blades for a slim, sculptural column that uses vortex shedding — turning air flow into oscillations, then into clean energy via magnetic induction and piezoelectric systems.

🌀 No gears. No grease. No danger to birds.
🔇 It’s silent, low-maintenance, and perfect for rooftops, homes, farms — even refugee camps.
🔌 One unit powers small devices, but grouped together, they can support entire buildings.

This minimalist marvel could soon reshape how we generate clean power in tight, off-grid, or urban spaces.
