💬 “Chantelle is an absolute style genius, and such a lovely person. I’ve always dreamt of having a stylist and now I do it’s everything I wished for and more. Before I met Chantelle, I was rarely able to find outfits that made me feel fabulous, and I had that sinking feeling when I looked in my wardrobe and couldn’t find anything to wear (even though it was bursting at the seams). I now have an exciting wardrobe full of outfit choices and I receive so many compliments when I wear a ‘Chantelle outfit’! Over the years that Chantelle has been helping me, I’ve had personal shopping sessions and wardrobe management, both in person and virtually. Every time Chantelle has brought her creative genius (even during the pandemic). She really listened to my needs and took time to find the right things within my budget. In the long run I’ve saved money (and time), with no more items laying unworn at the back of the wardrobe and I can quickly make up a feel-good outfit. Thank you Chantelle!!.”

We promote people on ability, then wonder why the room doesn't quite respond to their new title.

It happens without people realising. Someone earns the seniority, but no one ever shows them how to look and feel the part. It rarely gets named, but it gets noticed - in a boardroom, in a client pitch, or in whether people decide to follow.

Presence is a leadership skill. We just never teach it.

I grew up being told to celebrate my uniqueness rather than trying to fit in, and 20 years as a corporate image consultant has only confirmed it. The leaders with real presence aren't performing authority, they're genuinely aligned. What people see on the outside matches who they are on the inside, and people trust that instantly.

And here's the part organisations tend to miss. Presence cascades, and so does that unspoken style confidence. When a leader shows up with intention, it gives everyone in their team the permission to do the same. Culture is set by the most senior person in the room, whether they mean it to be or not.

So the question isn't whether your leaders look senior enough.

It's what their presence is giving everyone else permission to do.

How professional style evolves from graduate to leader.

→ Graduates often want to fit in without losing their individuality.

→ Clear guidance can reduce anxiety around workplace expectations.

→ As careers progress, style becomes more connected to personal brand and leadership presence.

How are you helping employees grow in confidence at every stage of their career?

Find out how I find the right pieces for clients during a personal shopping session.

I know how overwhelming it can feel when shopping alone.

You end up looking at the same types of clothing, nothing feels new, wandering around not really knowing what you want, need, or what suits you.

You try on a bunch of things on, nothing feels right, but you don’t want to leave empty-handed, so you buy something that doesn’t make you feel good, or something you’ve got nothing at home to wear it with.

Sound familiar?

Some lovely congratulations emails came in last week, but I've been too busy to shout about it until now!

Better late than never...
Being nominated for Best New Business, The Silver Lining Award and Perfect Professionals Award at THE NOTTY'S is such a lovely bit of recognition.

Between being head down and coping with the summer juggle, it's easy to forget the hard work behind the scenes, so a huge thank you to whoever put us forward.

None of this happens on my own, though. A massive thank you to my wonderful VA, Rebecca Cullen, for keeping me on track! To Simon Scott-Nelson, for his energy and strategic advisory. To my brilliant University of Exeter intern, Nok Hei Li and exceptional MBA Tara Suran, who have genuinely inspired me this summer. And to everyone else around me who has supported me and believed in me on this journey, thank you. I am so grateful for you all.

Just being nominated is a privilege, and I'd like to extend my congratulations to all the other nominees. 👏🏽

The higher you go, the more your image speaks before you do.

And when someone's presence hasn't caught up with their seniority, people notice, even if they never say it out loud.

That's exactly what 'The Authentic Leader' Presence Session is for. It helps leaders build a presence that matches the level they're now leading at, based on who they actually are, not who they think they should be.

C-suite and partners - is leadership presence on your radar this year? If so, I'd love to talk. Send me a DM.

You've been standing in front of your wardrobe since 7am...
.. staring at clothes that you wore through the summer, wondering what "business casual" is supposed to mean today.

You have a Zoom call first thing, an in-person meeting later, with no idea either way of how to get it right or feel like you through all of this.

This is one of the most common style challenges I see in my work with hybrid professionals and founders.

Most people are trying to fix this issue by buying more clothes, when the real answer is a wardrobe that's actually built around who they are and how they work.

My latest blog article is about why "business casual" causes more anxiety than clarity, what genuinely works on camera, and the capsule pieces that carry you through every kind of day.

If you'd like some tips on where to start, have a read - link in comments.

Why a Corporate Style Guide matters now.

→ Workplace expectations have become less clear since hybrid working.

→ Employees are often left to interpret vague dress codes themselves.

→ A Corporate Style Guide gives practical inspiration without creating a uniform.

Are your employees still expected to work out the unwritten rules for themselves?

I'm seeing more and more companies rethink their dress standards.

Not back to suits and ties, but something has shifted since the pandemic. I've noticed it with my corporate and individual clients.

I shared my take on the InSpirrall podcast with Simon Scott-Nelson.

I'd love to know what you're seeing in your workplace. Share in comments 👇🏽 or DM me.

For your senior leaders and partners.

The higher you go, the more your image speaks before you do. It signals readiness, authority and credibility - whether people trust you've actually arrived where you say you have. Like it or not, you're on show, and your image influences your peers and your teams whether you intend it to or not.

I learned the value of leading with who you are early. Adopted from Indonesia at three months old and growing up in Devon, I looked and felt different, and secondary school is a tough place to be different. You're navigating emotions, hormones, self-belief and identity, and all you want to do is fit in. My parents told me to celebrate my uniqueness and be proud of who I am. It wasn't always easy, but that self-belief became the thing everything else was built on.

Because when you're genuinely aligned with who you are, people can feel it in your personality, your values, and your presence.

That's the heart of 'The Authentic Leader' Presence Session. It's about elevating your personal brand to match the level you're now leading at, dressing with authenticity rather than copying others, and understanding how style cascades from the top down. When leaders show up with intention, it quietly gives everyone else permission to do the same.

And the benefit for your organisation? It's bigger than how your leaders look in the room. A leader with genuine presence sets the cultural tone for everyone watching including the people deciding whether to follow them, trust them with bigger decisions, or see themselves as a future leader too.

It also helps with something most firms don't spot until it costs them, people get promoted on ability, but no one ever shows them how to look and feel the part. And when no one's ever shown you, it quietly chips away at your confidence and credibility, and it tends to show up at the worst possible moment, in front of a client or a boardroom.

If leadership presence is on your radar this year, let's have a conversation. I'd love to show you how this works.
