A Cornish adventurer who found a new sense of hope out on the trail. A filmmaker whose work explores how even the most beautiful game can drive us to joy and despair. An author who searches for emotional truth in the most surreal of times.

Our Small Plates speakers and all have a story.

And with a nail-biting Euros competition plus a Kafka-esque political performance, their insights feel more timely than ever.

The challenge? Telling it in just ten minutes. Join us on 3 July to hear more about their approach to storytelling.

And if you’ve got a tale of your own to tell, a technique or just more questions (who doesn’t?) then come prepared to share, as we’ll be chatting with them over a few of ’s delicious - you guessed it - small plates.

"I’m New Here is a thrilling, hallucinatory debut and masterclass in unreliable narration that positions Ian Russell-Hsieh as one of the most exciting new authors in the UK."

Stranger writer and long-term friend Ian Russell-Hsieh is celebrating the launch of his first novel, 'I'm New Here' – a huge accomplishment and something we're rather excited to squeeze onto our bookshelves very soon.

Which is why we can't wait to attend Ian's launch event hosted by Shrew Books on Saturday, 3 February at North Street Kitchen in Fowey.

Tickets (https://ow.ly/bVsA50Qp6QM) include a drink and a bite to eat, with a bar open afterwards. What's not to love? See you there.

The December slump is out, and a fresh new year is very much IN (easier said with the winter sun pouring into our studio this afternoon).

Re-energised, renewed, and refreshed, we're back to it – busy stacking up plans and getting stuck in for an exciting year ahead.

Happy New Year to all our clients, friends and collaborators. We're looking forward to telling more stories and making even more words count in 2024 ✨

With these long, dark nights to fill, we've got not one, not two, but THREE ‘Watch This’ recommendations from our latest Issue of Strike.

Check out the films we’ve stumbled across over the last couple of months (https://stranger-collective.com/watch-this-playlist/) that will entertain and inform you in this Christmas limbo between now and New Year.

Our chosen films are focused on the challenges we’re facing as a society and planet, but each with a side of optimism. So, settle down with the last of the seasonal leftovers and enjoy...

Annnd that’s a wrap!

We're officially OOO (out of office) and signing off for the Christmas break. We'll be back in January, rejuvenated and raring to go, ready for the new year ahead.

In the meantime, we thought we’d leave you with a selection of winter reads from the Stranger Team to flick through whilst the Maris Pipers soak or, better still, you find a quiet spot to curl up somewhere cosy...

"...have something that gives your trip space for the unknown to happen. Do the things you want to do; that’s the point of going, but leave space for serendipity to strike," Dan Kieran's take on slow travel...

Or as The Slow Traveller author Jo Tinsley puts it: "...the antithesis of bucket list travel, placing spontaneity over a packed agenda and allowing you to travel on terms that are meaningful both to you and to the people you meet along the way,"

If, like us, you're often dashing from one thing to the next (especially over the Christmas period) maybe there's room to experience any upcoming festive travels a little differently or re-think next year's holiday plans.

Head to the Beach Retreats 'How to do slow travel' blog piece, (https://www.beachretreats.co.uk/explore/how-to-do-slow-travel) where you'll find all the motivation you need to turn things down a notch and just see what happens.

In our latest issue of magazine we speak to London (and Cornwall) based photographer Lily Bertrand-Webb on light, time and “communicating with the hearing world”.

Capturing places and people (recent subjects in front of the lens include the likes of Little Simz Adwoa Aboah, Priya Ragu and Miquita Oliver to name-drop a few), we ask Lily what influences her practice and what she's been drawn to explore in our 'How I See It' feature.
