Lovin' the yellow!!!

June is here and it's hotting up. Yellow is in the shops and I'm having fun wearing it. I never considered it before and thought my skin tone was now too mature to take it on. Maybe I'm just in time!!!!

Having some paint pouring fun. Love it. When finishes I realised I'd created a picture of my Soft,Warm and Deep Palette. A lovely tonal blend of warm and deep colours. I wonder what yours would look like!!

In the pink!

Just looking at these fabulous flowers and loving the pink roses I had for Mother's day.
I love pink. However, I have to be careful which one I choose. Powdery or Baby pink don't do any favours for my skin tone. However, a lovely coral pink makes all the difference.
I wonder what your pink is!

Happy Saint David's Day!

I'm still having a fabulous time with my yellow mentioned last month. Very appropriate for today!!!

I also love deep chocolate brown. As a Soft Deep and Warm it's the perfect alternative to black which is a bit draining and looks like I haven't slept. Many of my clients who never wear brown are surprised at how a deep brown enriches their natural palette and gives them more depth.

In the picture the brown is mixed by a soft White and gold. It's a little too contrasting for my Soft palette but a fun look for a night out! I can just about get away with it! And the necklace....a lucky find!!!

However, as we age it's yellow ingredients doesn't always work favourably with a mature skin tone. In this case black or a deep charcoal with a dot of colour is a better option.

Happy February!!!!

Well here we are. A little more light and there's something unusual out there in the sky for the second day running!!

In the run up to Christmas I was forced into wearing yellow for a ukulele gig. 'Yuck, oh no and you can't be serious' I protested!!! I was terrified my November face was going to look even more anaemic or jaundiced than it usually did!

For many of my clients yellow can be a challenging shade because of it's tendency to reflect unfavorably on our skin.

I was however surprised, even shocked that I could wear this terrifying colour especially in the winter!!! I'm so thrilled and a bit afraid at the same time. Im now on a mission and will troll the charity shops and wear my yellow with pride ....and maybe still a bit of trepidation! It's going to take a while.

If you want to have a go, try a lovely and gentle primrose yellow to start. Pay special attention to how it reflects on your face. You never know!!!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

Gosh, what a chilly end to the year! However, a lucky find in a local Charity shop has certainly warmed me up. A fabulous faux leopard print coat and, Christmas definitely came again! The colours suit my Soft, Warm and Deep natural palette especially the deep chocolate brown near my face. The beautiful warm mix of brown, bronze and cream in the print add the perfect tonal blend for a Soft like me. I love it. It will make its maiden appearance on New Year's Eve.....and then....I'll never take it off!! Please don't rain!!!

In The Pink!
October is the month we always associate with ‘pink’ as Breast Cancer now hosts it’s ‘Wear It Pink’ campaign to raise funds for life changing research and support.
Pink represents warmth and friendliness. It conveys approachability and empathy. Of course, there are many different shades of pink. Light pink is viewed as soft and peaceful, whilst it’s cousin, hot pink is considered bold and exciting.
Pink is also associated with good health. ‘In the pink’, ‘everything is rosy’ and ‘tickled pink’.
Wearing light pink can provide you with a sense of calm whilst brighter shades proved stimulation. So, there are lots of reasons to wear this gorgeous colour in a very positive way. I wonder which pink is yours!?

Just basking in the early autumn sunshine. Nature always gets it effortlessly right in coordinating its colours.

In a colour consultation this butterfly would be a Clear Warm and Deep with its vibrant, contrasting and yellow based colours. It can really party!!!

The Dreaded Double Chin!!!

As we get older, everything seems to go South doesn't it? Use a dark powder or bronzer to create shadows or contours under your chin and along your jawline.

To draw the eye away, emphasise your eyes or lips by using slightly brighter make-up. Avoid anything tied under your chin as it will only draw attention to this area. Instead opt for an open neckline, longer necklace or a loosely tied scarf.

A close fitting necklace or choker will draw attention to the neck, instead opt for a longer pendant and some gorgeous statement earrings.

Also, wear the colours that flatter you the most and give you the 'wow' factor!! I always go to my deep salmon pink. Love it.

Happy August

black may be chic and sophisticated, but exploring the colour palette can be much more interesting.
Never a truer word spoken. Black has its place, but there are so many other colours that for me are more flattering especially at this time of year. . Without the scarf I would look very washed out in solely the black underneath.

Spice it up!!!

A surprising colour for this season is mustard. In fact,, spicy mustard according to Pantone. However, I expect to see all shades of this traditional autumn colour in the High Street.

Mustard is a really versatile colour for anyone with a warm and golden look. Wear it with khaki, warm up your flat neutrals such as navy, or clash with terracotta. Enjoy it now and carry it through to autumn! Those with a cooler skin tone may wish to swerve mustard above the waist and save for shoes or trainers.
