Every year we have a summer team treat, and this year we made a return to the Milsoms Talbooth Restaurant in Dedham, a stunning venue on the River Stour.

We didn't miss an opportunity to enjoy a Shotley Vineyard Bacchus ( **eTrail), take our glasses onto the River Stour for a boat trip (thanks to the fantastic volunteers at the ) and gobble up some very fine food. ☺️

Talbooth, you were flawless as ever - we'll be back!

It’s another DCO! ☀️✅ Super pleased that today a Development Consent Order has been granted for Beacon Fen Energy Park, a project Pier proudly delivered communications and consultation for and has been a big part of our working lives for the past four years. This 400MW solar and 600MW BESS project in Lincolnshire will make a big difference in our journey for homegrown, renewable energy, powering thousands of homes every year.

Thank you Low Carbon for your trust in Pier and to all the other consultants on this project – it’s always an enormous team effort and we’re so proud to see it make it over the line.

A great morning for Francesca in Harwich with the Royal Navy for a tour of HMS Severn - it was certainly a fascinating start to the day! ⚓
 
The event brought together leaders from across industry, local government and the maritime sector to explore the future of regional resilience, security and defence. 
 
One particularly interesting discussion centred on ‘sea blindness’ – the lack of public awareness of just how much we depend on the sea, with maritime infrastructure, trade and supply chains underpinning our everyday lives and economy. That includes our energy security, with offshore infrastructure and cable routes playing a critical role in keeping energy moving and strengthening the UK’s resilience.

Thanks Suffolk Chamber of Commerce - a interesting mix of speakers at the Suffolk High Energy Users Network Conference today. Plus a meeting of food & energy worlds for Pier too, with several major local food manufacturers in the room - Aspall, Mizkan Euro Ltd, Boxford Farms Limited. 🫡

⚡EEEGR (East of England Energy Group)'s Kevin Keable was a reliably engaging speaker - great to catch-up, and with you too Ian Pease and Karl Farrow.

Sharing this fantastic slide from the Stoke by Nayland Resort case study - easy to see why this on-site circular economy, based around their anaerobic digestion plant, is award-winning. 🏆

The government has FINALLY revealed what will be replacing statutory consultation for NSIP's. It's been a torturous wait for all of us working with renewable energy developments so, of course, as soon as it was out Caroline Tilley got far too excited to discover what's what.

The three main takeaways?

➡️ Project websites are going to be developers' new best friends (if they're not already)
➡️ Statements of Community Consultation are no more
➡️ Developers are going to want to get to REALLY know who their stakeholders are.

A fantastic evening at the Freeport East Summer Reception at milsoms Pier Hotel in Harwich! 🌞
 
Kate and Francesca joined clients, partners and regional leaders for an evening of great conversations and valuable connections, celebrating the progress being made across the Freeport East region.
 
With major investment continuing to drive growth in clean energy, logistics, innovation and skills, it’s amazing to see the collaboration helping to shape the future of our region in the flesh! Events like these are a great reminder of the strength of the partnerships that underpin that success.

Today we’re celebrating Olivia Reilly. ☀️ We can’t believe it, but it’s been FIVE YEARS since she joined our crew. Loved by clients and colleagues alike, we are so proud to be congratulating Liv on reaching the 5 year Pier-a-versary.

We're just coming down from last night's fantastic Ashden Awards, where climate was front of mind. 🌍 From Sheffield to Nairobi, the award winners are doing such jaw droppingly amazing things. It was really humbling to be in their company.
