Driveway Sale Update & Looking Ahead to Next Year! 🏡🛍️

Thank you so much to everyone who participated, hosted a stall, and came out to shop for today’s driveway sale!

I’ve received a mix of feedback today. On one hand, many would love to see this become an annual event! On the other hand, I know footfall was lower in certain areas, and several residents mentioned they didn't realize it was taking place today—despite posters around the village and regular social media posts.

Pulling this together takes a lot of background coordination, and alongside renovating my house over the last few years, it’s been a bit of a balancing act!

If we want to make this bigger, better, and more widely advertised next year—with a clearer map or route to help those living further out get equal footfall—I’d love some help!
If anyone would be interested in joining me to help organize, plan, and promote next year’s event, please drop a comment below or send me a direct message. With a small team behind it, we can make it a huge success for the whole village.

Thanks again to everyone who supported today!

Why should we declutter ?? Its not just about the 💵💵💵💵

1. Lowers Cortisol and Reduces Stress
Living in a cluttered space bombards your senses with visual noise. Your brain registers unorganized items as "unfinished business," which keeps your body in a subtle, low-grade stress response. Research shows that people living in cluttered homes tend to have higher levels of cortisol (the primary stress hormone). Sorting through items and clearing surfaces gives your brain a chance to downshift out of fight-or-flight mode.

2. Sharpens Focus and Cognitive Function
Visual clutter competes for your brain's processing capacity. When your environment is packed with items, your visual cortex gets overwhelmed, making it harder to focus, process information, and make decisions. By getting rid of items you no longer need, you reduce friction for your attention span, leading to improved mental clarity and lower decision fatigue.

3. Improves Sleep Quality
A messy environment—especially in the bedroom— directly correlates with sleep disturbances. Visual mess before bed makes it harder for your brain to wind down, leading to increased anxiety around bedtime. Clearing out nightstand clutter, under-bed storage, and stray clothes helps signal to your nervous system that it is time to rest.

4. Boosts Mood via Action & Altruism
The process of decluttering gives you an immediate sense of agency and accomplishment. Taking control of your environment releases dopamine (the reward neurotransmitter). Furthermore, when you don't just throw things away but donate or rehome them, you trigger a "helper's high"—releasing endorphins and oxytocin that boost self-esteem and social connection.

5. Physical Health & Respiratory Benefits
Fewer Allergens: Accumulated items are magnet traps for dust mites, mold spores, and pet dander. Getting rid of excess boxes, old papers, and soft furnishings makes deep cleaning exponentially easier and improves indoor air quality.

Physical Activity: Sorting, lifting, carrying boxes, and moving around during a major clear-out burns real calories and gets you moving—acting as effective functional exercise.
